I always find Easter the perfect excuse to have a little fun with colour and creativity, both around the house and on the table. Over the years, I’ve always been drawn to looks that blend a more rustic charm with a joyful mix of colour, texture, and flowers. And I’m sure this year will be the same. While I scour Pinterest and old photos for inspiration for this year’s Easter table (Mackenzie is in charge of the menu), I thought I’d share my tips and tricks on how to create a showstopping tablescape…

1. Don’t be shy with colour. Lean into it instead. I like to start with a colourful tablecloth that feels both classic and playful, and pairs so well with my hand-painted ceramics in terracotta, cream or splatter. I love coloured glassware, which I try to keep tonal with the tablecloth, and then scalloped edges, and delicately embroidered napkins for that rustic, nostalgic charm. If you prefer keeping your table naked, introduce colour through your accessories: placemats, plates, napkins, candle holders and little vases.

2. Get creative with eggs. My girls and I adore using them in different ways every year. You could pile natural brown, quail and white eggs into pretty ceramic bowls as spontaneous centrepieces. For something sweeter, use mini chocolate eggs instead, scattered across the table and in little pretty bowls; this instantly makes the table feel more festive. Then there’s one of my favourite easy egg DIY crafts: turning a napkin and an egg into a bunny. Simply fold a napkin longways, wrap it around an egg, and tie a little ribbon or bit of twine at the top to form its ears. It’s unbelievably simple and looks utterly sweet on each guest’s plate.

3. Flowers, flowers, flowers. Easter is the ultimate excuse to go wild with spring blooms. Tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and ranunculus all look stunning mixed together. Try baby vases or small jam jars dotted along the table instead of one large arrangement if you want to keep the vibe less formal. If you’re tempted by neutrals, white and soft yellow blooms will keep your centrepiece elegant yet fresh.

4. Pretty finishing touches. Tie your cutlery with pastel ribbons, or use name tags attached to tiny sprigs of greenery. It’s all about creating a layered, joyful look that feels thought-out but not overdone.
