The show will not return for a second season due to performance and cost reasons, according to Deadline.

Etoile tells the story of “dancers and artistic staff of two world-renowned ballet companies, as they embark on an ambitious gambit to save their storied institutions by swapping their most talented stars.” It was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, the creators of Gilmore Girls and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The eight-episode first season of Etoile was released on Prime Video on April 24.
