“She makes it look so easy, but it’s so hard!” Of course it is! Sony Pictures has revealed the official trailer for a comedy called The Breadwinner, a family comedy directed by Eric Appel (of Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, Die Hart) and starring comedian Nate Bargatze in his first ever feature film. Not to be confused with the 2017 animated movie from Afghanistan also titled The Breadwinner. This one is about a dad trying to navigate his sudden time as a stay-at-home dad when his wife leaves for work. One dad. Three kids. Zero clue. A supermom lands a Shark Tank deal, switching roles with her breadwinner husband. He struggles to adapt as a stay-at-home dad to their three daughters. “Nate finds out quickly that running the household is the toughest gig he’s ever had.” Nate Bargatze stars with Mandy Moore, Colin Jost, Zach Cherry, Martin Herlihy, Kate Berlant, Kumail Nanjiani, and Will Forte. It looks more like a fake SNL spoof trailer than a trailer for an actual, real movie. Not my kind of dumb comedy! Ughh this guy is such a doofus.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Eric Appel’s comedy The Breadwinner, direct from YouTube:

Starring the record-breaking comedian Nate Bargatze in his very first feature film, The Breadwinner is a family comedy that follows the misadventures of Nate Wilcox, whose wife Katie (Mandy Moore) lands a once-in-a-lifetime deal on Shark Tank that takes her on a prolonged business trip – and now the lifelong breadwinner has to fend for his family as a first-time stay-at-home dad. With three young daughters and little experience handling their day-to-day needs, Nate finds out quickly that running the household is the toughest gig he’s ever had. The Breadwinner is directed by the comedy filmmaker Eric Appel, director of Weird: The Al Yankovic Story and Kevin Hart’s Die Hart, after working for Funny or Die and on many TV projects, including “Teachers” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”. The screenplay is written by Nate Bargatze & Dan Lagana. Produced by Jeremy Latcham, Nate Bargatze, Dan Lagana. Sony Pictures will release Eric Appel’s The Breadwinner in theaters nationwide starting on March 13th, 2026 coming soon. Anyone interested?
