“They will not divide us! Black and white, unite and fight!” Icarus Films has revealed the official trailer for a documentary film titled Everybody to Kenmure Street, one of the most engaging and deeply inspiring films of the year so far. This premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival a few months ago, and I listed it as one of 10 best films at the festival. It’s also screening this week at the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival before it opens soon in the UK first. It will eventually hit theaters in the US and I hope people will watch it. Set in the city of Glasgow, Scotland, it follows the true story of hat happens during an immigration raid. In May 2021, a U.K. Home Office dawn raid triggers one of the most spontaneous and successful acts of civil resistance in recent memory. In Scotland’s most diverse neighborhood, hundreds of residents rush down to the streets to stop the deportation of their neighbors. This is the true story of Everybody to Kenmure Street. Aside from being a rousing story of community action successfully working, it’s just an excellent doc film that showcases the power of great filmmaking to tell important stories. I fully recommend catching this doc.

Intro from Sundance: “The morning in Glasgow, the first day of Eid, started as any other. However, when neighbors heard through community message networks that 2 local men were snatched up for deportation, hundreds of people left their breakfast tables, work Zoom calls, and daily lives to rush down to Kenmure Street to save them by putting their bodies on the line. Though mostly strangers, and with almost no planning, this extremely diverse group organized themselves, taking on essential roles to allow the collective to achieve their goal: protecting their own from government forces going after the weakest among them. An inspiring and profoundly moving portrait of what ‘normal’ citizens are capable of in the face of injustice, Everybody To Kenmure Street reminds us of the power that is always inherent in the people.” It’s inspiring.
Everybody to Kenmure Street is directed by the Chilean-Belgian filmmaker Felipe Bustos Sierra based in Glasgow, Scotland, director of the doc film Nae Pasaran previously, plus many other short films. Produced by Ciara Barry & Felipe Bustos Sierra. This first premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Icarus Films debuts Everybody to Kenmure Street in UK cinemas starting March 13th, 2026 coming up. No US release date is set yet. It’ll play at other film festivals throughout the year – watch out for this one.
