I found myself in a skyline-view room on the 12th floor of The Dominick: a luxury, five-star hotel in NYC’s Soho neighborhood (the only one there, in fact, with an AAA Five Diamond designation). What incited this spontaneous staycation? The Dominick’s latest partnership with jewelry designer Alexis Bittar‘s eponymous label — which has accompanied Michelle Obama, Dua Lipa, Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Angelina Jolie, and countless other A-listers to photoshoots, Met Galas, and everything in between over the years.

Now, I was looking at Alexis Bittar’s most-loved creations with my own eyes; not only that, but they were mine to enjoy long after I took the subway back home, courtesy of the fortuitous collaboration that’s running until June 1 and can be taken advantage of by booking a stay at The Dominick (just don’t forget to request the Alexis Bittar experience on the hotel’s direct site).

Guests can become a part of Alexis Bittar’s gilded, high-end world in one of two ways: choosing either the bespoke jewelry box delivery, which offers “three tiers of beautifully curated jewelry” based on your selected price point ($500, $1,250, or $2,500 on top of the booking cost), or a personal styling session with the Alexis Bittar team inside their Prince Street boutique. Those dropping anchor at The Dominick will also receive 15 percent off their full-price, in-store purchases during said appointment.

What first struck me about the limited-time activation was how organic of a fit it was. The Dominick is all floor-to-ceiling windows, soaking tubs, rooftop pools, and moody light fixtures — in other words, its 46 stories are peppered with elements that exude upscale, sophisticated energy while avoiding all signs of gaudiness. The Dominick’s guest suites are also deemed “residential-style” for a reason: They’re so roomy and well-equipped (think Fendi Casa furnishings, Diptyque shower essentials, and marble bathroom floors), you’ll forget you’re spending the night in one of the world’s busiest cities.

So too is Alexis Bittar not your average jewelry maker. The Brooklyn-born Bittar started working on his hero line — the Lucite Collection — in 1990. Shortly thereafter, his designs were picked up by Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Harrods, and other major retailers. In the decades since, Bittar has joined forces with Burberry, Michael Kors, Mugler, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and no shortage of other creative collaborators. Connecting all of these ventures are the biomorphic, avant-garde design codes traditionally employed by Bittar: powered by lucite, yes, but also many other semi-precious stones and metals that make each piece an easy choice for celebrities on the red carpet (and anyone else looking to make an elegant first impression).

I witnessed the magic firsthand with the Asterales Gold Floating Collar Necklace, The Petit Scissor Clutch in the timeless shade of merlot, and the Small Molten Bangle Bracelet in gold. Everything was already waiting for me in the hotel room upon my arrival: wrapped beautifully and placed inside a gift bag. Instantly, I felt pampered to the max — a sensation akin to receiving champagne-and-caviar room service, only in accessory form. And though I wasn’t celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or work win this time around, the gifting moment is something that would effortlessly complement one of these occasions, should you have a special reason for your trip to New York (or self-care staycation).

I immediately put the 14-karat gold-plated necklace on (who wouldn’t?), noting that its pièce de résistance is a central crystal that appears to float just between the collarbones. It reflected the light marvelously, while the collar was malleable enough to adjust to my neck’s dimensions. At only 25 grams, the wearable objet d’art can be easily packed for some on-the-go statement-making, whether you’re traveling for work or for fun. Paired with the bangle — which has a lot to adore, including its molten metalwork and made-for-stacking size — the Alexis Bittar bestseller made me feel like a million bucks as I tucked into sweet-spicy chicken and an ahi tuna poke bowl at The Dominick’s onsite Hawaiian restaurant El Ta’Koy.

As for that shoulder bag, I truly haven’t seen anything so surrealistic yet accessible. Its genuine, glossy leather is topped by a pair of glinting faux scissors, which might be every aichmophobic person’s nightmare but is also every style-savvy woman’s dream. The handbag had just enough space for my phone and wallet inside, and the detachable leather strap gave me the freedom of toting it like a clutch while strutting down Sixth Avenue.
