“Take care of me, I’ll take care of you, huh?” Sony Pictures has unveiled an official trailer for a romantic comedy film titled The Best You Can, about a romantic that sparks with two people who getting older. Yet another of these super cute later-in-life love story films, with a few funky twists and some kooky comedy. This premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival and will be on VOD tho watch this week. “Stan’s life kind of sucks. Cynthia’s is falling apart too. See how fate brings them together…” in this sweet story about finding connections no matter what point of life you’re in. Stan Olszewski, a security guard, foils a home robbery attempt at Cynthia Rand’s residence. A charged friendship develops starting with late-night humorous texts. Their deepening bond shakes up both their lives in this getting-older romantic comedy made by filmmaker Michael J. Weithorn. The movie stars Kevin Bacon as Stan and Kyra Sedgwick as Cynthia, along with Brittany O’Grady as Stan’s daughter, Ray Romano, and Judd Hirsch as Cynthia’s much older husband Warren. Yeah this definitely looks like a direct-to-video comedy that a few people might enjoy – check it out.

Cynthia Rand (Kyra Sedgwick), a buttoned-up New York City urologist married to a brilliant Watergate prosecutor, Warren Rand (Judd Hirsch), 25 years her senior, has her neatly ordered world turned upside down when he begins to slide into dementia. Stan Olszewski (Kevin Bacon), a sharp but underachieving security guard, drifts through life without much direction, his current goal to find connection with his alienated 20- something daughter Sammi (Brittany O’Grady). Their worlds collide when Stan thwarts a robbery at Cynthia’s stately Brooklyn home. What begins as a random chance encounter quickly evolves into an unconventional but deep friendship, built on late-night texts, candid confessions, and irreverent humor. As their bond grows their relationship veers into an unexpected romantic entanglement, upending their lives and forcing them to reconsider what they truly want – and what they might just be missing…

The Best You Can is directed by American writer / filmmaker Michael J. Weithorn, director of the film A Little Help previously, and also a writer on various TV series “True Colors”, “The King of Queens”, “The Goldbergs”, “Ned and Stacey”, and “Schooled”. The screenplay is also written by Michael J. Weithorn. It’s produced by Victoria Hill, Andrew Mann, Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick, Michael J. Weithorn. This initially premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year. Sony Pictures will debut Weithorn’s The Best You Can film direct-to-VOD at home starting November 25th, 2025 coming soon.
