Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender Movie Promo Art Reveals Aged-Up Versions of the Element-Bending Crew

Oh, retailers, is there ever a chance you won’t reveal spoilers for a film project before it’s time? Whether it’s showing Yoshi on a Pillsbury cookie box or Funko Pops spoiling character cameos, studios don’t always keep department stores in the loop about what can and cannot debut on a shelf for an upcoming film or television series. Today, thanks to an early look at the apparel for the upcoming animated film Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, we see images of Aang, Kitara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko all grown up for the adventure ahead.

About Those New Designs

Originally announced by Avatar Studios in 2001, Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender is taking its sweet time to bring Airbender fans a Paramount+ release worth getting excited about. Not that there aren’t good selections on Paramount+. You know what I mean. Anyway. The artwork gives us a great look at Aang, Kitara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko as young adults, and this isn’t some depraved Rule34 stuff either. All the new designs look incredible, with each character remaining true to their roots while exuding a mature vibe. The black t-shirt (shown below) seemingly offers a glimpse of the film’s mystery villain, voiced by Dave Bautista. We’re still waiting to catch a look at other characters like Suki, Kyoshi, and Ty Lee, but this is merely the first wave of apparel to hit the racks.

Legend of Aang Director on Debuting the Film on Paramount+

“‘Aang’ movie is officially wrapped,” Lauren Montgomery, the director of Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, recently shared on Instagram. “We screened the final film for the crew and celebrated the end of a four year journey. Now it waits in limbo until its release in October. I’ve never worked on an ‘Avatar’ project that was easy and this was no different. But it was worth it. I’m so proud of everyone who was a part of this and the amazing thing we built together.”

“The movie is amazing!!! That might not mean much coming from the director. I might have some bias, but I feel the need to put that out there,” she continued. “The recent decision to move us from theatrical to streaming might give the impression that the quality wasn’t sufficient, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. This movie deserves to be seen on a big screen!!! Can’t wait for you all to see it!”

What do you think about the aged-up designs for Aang and the gang? I’m digging the new look a lot, and I’m looking forward to watching the drama unfold when Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender comes to Paramount+. Have the characters entered into new relationships? Has someone melted Toph’s stony heart? Has Sokka matured even more throughout the years? Is Uncle Iroh still around, or is that wishful thinking? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
