Linda Evangelista is taking style cues from her younger self.
In honor of the fourth annual Kering Foundation’s Caring for Women dinner, the 60-year-old supermodel arrived at the Seagram Building in New York City with her chin-length hair pinned back into a pixie cut. The look bore a similar resemblance to her 1990s runway style, which almost always included choppy, short — and sometimes spiky — layers no longer than her ears.

At the Kering dinner, Evangelista nodded to her former look without actually cutting her hair. To do so, she brushed the sides of her dark brown bob back and pinned the ends down. The top half of her hair was then teased and gelled in a pompadour leaning on the left side of her head.
It’s not confirmed which hairstylist Evangelista worked with on her look; however, Julien d’Ys is known to be the architect behind her hair throughout the ’90s. In fact, the famed creative was the first to chop Evangelista’s hair into a pixie cut. From there, the two collaborated on her high-fashion modeling shoots and runway looks.

The pompadour eventually found its way into the fashion muse’s beauty aesthetic, as did micro bangs, bleach-blond highlights, bowl cuts and bobs. Her makeup in the heyday of her modeling career was on par with ’90s trends, consisting of skinny, arched eyebrows, subtle eye shadow and lots of bold lip shades. She worked with several makeup artists over the years to achieve this look, including Pat McGrath, James Kaliardos and, most famously, the late Kevin Aucoin. Fast forward to Thursday night’s affair, Evangelista donned a slightly thicker and lighter version of her trademark eyebrows, rosy lips and light contour below her cheekbones.

Other attendees at the Kering Foundation gala included Lauren Sánchez Bezos, Jessica Chastain and Anna Wintour. Bezos opted for a refined version of her typical mermaid wave extensions, styling structured barrel curls instead. Meanwhile, Chastain’s strawberry-colored hair was on full display next to Wintour’s finely chopped bob.
