During a conversation with Variety, Mariah was asked about whether she has anything planned to celebrate Glitter.

“Plans for a deluxe and a reissue, or maybe just one, I don’t know. We’re getting on top of it. I’m excited about it,” she revealed, agreeing that music videos like “Don’t Stop (Funkin’ 4 Jamaica)” should get remastered.

“Actually, it really would. No, we were just talking about it today. I really think it could be a moment,” she said.

Mariah then admitted her true feelings about Glitter.

Mariah starred in Glitter as Billie Frank, a young singer who dates a disc jockey who helps her get into the music business, but their relationship becomes complicated as she ascends to superstardom.

The film and soundtrack were released at the same time as the September 11 attacks in 2001. The movie grossed a total of just above $5 million against a budget of $22 million.

“I used to hate it. I used to be so like, why did I do that? And then, you know, it became something that I really loved and it just sort of took on its own thing.”

When asked why she felt that way, she laughed: “Because it was a disastrous flop.”

While she acknowledged that it went on to be appreciated over time, she admitted “it was just a tough time for me.”

Mariah also addressed her lost grunge album (“I just literally have to wait a minute and put it out. And I’m going to do it…it’s just, you know, a whole thing,” she said), as well as potential new music.

“I’m definitely recording new music and I’m very excited about it. And yeah, I’m kind of like always recording new music, but I hope it will do well and people will like it. But yeah, new music,” she said, refusing to say whether it’s for a record.

“When I say that people get upset with me,” she laughed. For more, head to Variety.com.
