Nike’s Air Max 90 may not have received as much attention in recent months as other models in the franchise like the Air Max 95, but the classic retro running shoe is quietly building a string of strong colorways including White Croc, Neon, and Reflective Infrared. The 1990 sneaker also just got a new denim makeover that’s arriving at retail now.

The just-released Air Max 90 Denim comes in Pink Foam/Pearl Pink/White/Pinksicle and uses a bleach effect on its washed-out denim panels, giving the shoe a worn-in look right out of the box. Aside from a white foam midsole, it’s an all pink affair for this pair, which uses multiple shades across the upper including a bright Pinksicle shade on the Swoosh, tongue and Nike Air heel branding. According to Nike, the new pair uses textured accents for a ‘90s-inspired look in easy-to-style colors.

Like its Air Max 1 predecessor and the aforementioned Air Max 95, Nike generally keeps the Air Max 90 in regular production, although the amount and frequency of styles released often fluctuates season to season. For the Air Max 90’s 30th anniversary in 2020, Nike remastered the sneaker with a build and shape closer to the original version, which was similar to the treatment later given to the Air Max 95 in 2025. The ’20 iteration of the model was sold under the name Air Max 3, a reference to the shoe’s original moniker.

Alongside other lines the Air Jordan and Pegasus, Nike, Inc.’s Air Max is one of its longest-running franchises in company history. It was introduced in 1987 with Tinker Hatfield’s Air Max 1 design and over the years has evolved from a beloved performance shoe to a lifestyle favorite. Its most recent form, the Air Liquid Max, featured point-loaded Air cushioning and was released in March to celebrate the brand’s annual Air Max Day holiday.
