Most holidays are still at least a few days out, but Noah x Barbour Day is very much upon us, which means that one of the most consistently great recurring collaborations in menswear is back for winter. And, as you should very much expect, it absolutely rips.
Barbour has been on a bit of a tear lately with a dramatically long list of collaborations but this might be one of our favorites. The collection consists of two styles and four fabrics. It’s tight, sure, but there isn’t a wrong answer to the question “which one do you like best?” because either version of both the Bedale and the Wading Jacket—which is making a triumphant return after its Spring ‘25 debut—would be the right answer. In other words, there isn’t a lowlight in the mix.
Let’s start with the Lovat Wading Jacket, which is done in a toasty, super tough, drool-inducing Cheviot tweed fabric that’s operating on the kind of frequencies you rarely see these days. It’s also described as “thornproof,” which I can only assume is exactly what it sounds like. The jacket is lined with a tartan cotton fabric that’s emblazoned with the Noah logo (this detail is what your English teacher would call a motif, because it keeps showing up), has some big ol’ gusseted pockets at the front and a sick corduroy collar that can stand up when the wind gets whipping.
In other words, the collaboration has all the essentials, and none of the superfluous details that might get in the way. If you’re in the market for something with a pop of color, there’s a bright red pressed wool version that is all the things above, but, well, bright red.
The drop would still be noteworthy if the Noah and Barbour stopped at the pair of Wading Jackets, but they didn’t and instead delivered a mind-melting riff on the most legendary style in the Barbour catalog, reimagining the Bedale in a rugged-ass cotton canvas fabric that’s more reminiscent of a Carhartt Detroit or an old L.L. Bean Barn Coat than anything in the existing Bedale canon. And while both the tan and grey colorways are transformative based on that canvas alone, they too were outfitted with those cheeky brown corduroy collars to really put things over the top.
The only real issue, is that anytime Noah and Barbour team up, things moves fast, so don’t hesitate for too long if you’re into one (or all) of them.
