It’s no secret that South Park enjoys satirizing real-world events and celebrities. However, according to Joe Jonas, not everyone in the Jonas Brothers was thrilled with how they were portrayed in the show. The band appeared in the Season 13 episode “The Ring,” which mocked their relationship with Disney. As Jonas put it, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone didn’t pull any punches.

In a preview clip for the upcoming Last Meals episode featuring Joe Jonas, the singer recalls watching the South Park episode with his brothers. While he personally found it funny, as he was a fan of the show, he acknowledged that his brothers had mixed reactions. Jonas said he understood that South Park targets everyone and actually appreciated that the creators considered the band culturally relevant enough to include. He recognized that the joke wasn’t really about them but about Mickey Mouse’s control and influence, with the Jonas Brothers portrayed as victims under Disney’s grip.

“I think I was the only brother that loved it. Our skin was not as thick back then. I thought it was hilarious because I watched South Park, and I was like, ‘This is so funny; I know what they’re doing; they make fun of everyone!’ And to be made fun of by a comic is usually a sign that, like, they give a sh*t, and they care, and it’s funny.”

List of Musicians Who Got Parodied On ‘South Park’

The Jonas Brothers aren’t the only musicians South Park has satirized. The show has aimed at many artists, including Lorde, PRIMUS, Radiohead, Britney Spears, Kanye West, Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand, and Justin Bieber. In some cases, musicians even lent their talents to the show. Brad Paisley, for instance, provided vocals and sang alongside Cartman in Season 16, while Sia voiced the auto-tuned version of Lorde.

And it’s not just musicians. South Park has also parodied a long list of real-world celebrities and public figures, regardless of their status. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy, Whoopi Goldberg, and even Steve Irwin have all been subjects of the show’s sharp satire. In the sitcom’s most iconic episode, “Make Love, Not Warcraft,” the episode’s antagonist, Jenkins, is based on two things – the appearance of one of the staff members of Blizzard and the World of Warcraft meme, Leeroy Jenkins.
