Rafael Nadal is now a dad of two!

The 39-year-old tennis legend and his wife Mery Perelló have welcomed their second child together, a baby named Miquel, his rep confirmed on Monday (August 11).

According to Europa Press, the couple’s newest addition is named after Mery’s late father, who passed away in April 2023 following a long illness.

No other details about the baby have been shared at this time.

Rafael and Mery are already parents to son Rafael Jr., who was born in October 2022.

The happy news comes just 10 months after Rafael announced his retirement from professional tennis in October 2024. At the time, the 22-time Grand Slam champion revealed that the Davis Cup final in Malaga, Spain, which he lost to Netherlands’ Botic van de Zandschulp, would be his last tournament.

“The reality is that it has been some difficult years, especially these last two,” he said in Spanish. “I don’t think I have been able to play without limitations… it’s an appropriate time to put an end to a career that has been long and much more successful than I could have ever imagined.”

In his retirement speech, Rafael also thanked Mery for her support over their 19-year relationship, saying that being home with his family gave him the strength to keep going.
