We’re only a month into the year so far, but things have been relatively quiet for Russell Crowe. He has a few movies, such as Bear Country, The Last Druid, and Unabom that have all wrapped filming, and while they’re all expected to premiere in 2026, none of them yet have spots on the release calendar. 2025 was a big year for Crowe, though, who finally brought his long-gestating WWII movie, Nuremberg, to the big screen. Crowe stars alongside Rami Malek and Michael Shannon in the legal thriller, and it was even thought at one point that he would earn an Oscar nomination for his performance in the film. While he ultimately didn’t earn an Oscar nod for playing Hermann Göring, Nuremberg became the latest in a long line of entertaining films for Crowe that will live on forever.
Another of his recent features that wasn’t necessarily considered for an Oscar was Land of Bad, but like Nuremberg, it’s wildly thrilling and has a solid audience. Crowe stars alongside a pair of Hemsworth brothers in the film, Luke and Liam, which follows a Delta Force strike team who executes a dangerous mission made safer by their eyes in the sky, a legendary drone pilot. Crowe stars as the drone pilot in the film, which allows him to feature in action thrillers but not be directly involved in the action. In America, Land of Bad is streaming exclusively on Netflix, but globally, the film is charting in the VOD top 10 in several countries on both Apple TV and Google. Land of Bad earned scores of 66% from critics but 93% from audiences on the aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.
Russell Crowe Is Teaming Up With Henry Cavill for His Next Movie
It’s been a few years since Russell Crowe starred in a big blockbuster, but he’ll be back in the spotlight in 2027 with Highlander. Crowe will feature amidst a star-studded ensemble led by Henry Cavill in the fantasy reboot, which also stars Jeremy Irons, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, and more. Highlander began production at the start of the year, and Cavill just shared the first look images from behind the scenes of production a few weeks ago. Chad Stahelski (John Wick) is directing the film, but it does not have a release date yet.
Be sure to watch Land of Bad while it’s still streaming on Netflix, and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
