Ryan Reynolds Finds the REAL Tilly Norwood for a Disruptive New Entertainment Deal

Ryan Reynolds loves to poke fun and this time, he’s using his company Mint Mobile to take on the internet’s hottest topic: Tilly Norwood. Well, sort of. The AI generated “actress” has been the talk of the town and Reynolds decided to team up with a real woman named Tilly Norwood for his Mint Mobile commercial. The Proposal star’s Maximum Effort company tracked down the REAL Norwood who is an actual Mint Mobile customer to talk about the cellphone company and help debut their new deal.

Mint Mobile is launching MINTernet, “a 5G-powered service starting at just $30/month. It is a no-nonsense 5G-powered home internet service that brings Mint’s signature value to homes. And as a way of helping sell it, Reynolds decided to poke fun at the Norwood of it all. Many were outraged when agencies decided to sign “Tilly Norwood” to their line-up of clients as she is an AI generated actor who is, decidedly, not real. Many actors responded by voicing their outrage.

Reynolds took a very “Reynolds” approach to the news with this ad. The Norwood in this ad is very much a real woman who is a combination “of my parents” instead of a combination of a bunch of other actors but it is a fun way to sell Mint Mobile’s new internet plan. “Mint has brought millions of people relief from big wireless bills while still delivering premium wireless service,” said Reynolds. “Today we’re bringing that same energy home. Literally. This is not a metaphor. We literally deliver it to your home. Like it shows up and you turn it on and you start getting 5G home internet and saving money.”

Let’s Keep Making Fun of Tilly Norwood

When news broke of Norwood’s new agent, many actors pushed back. For a lot of reasons, especially since a large part of the issue with the Writers and Actor strikes centered around the use of AI to make art. Abigail star Melissa Barrera pushed back at Norwood on her Instagram story, writing “Hope all actors repped by the agent that does this, drop their a$$,” she wrote. “How gross, read the room.” While many took a more standard approach voicing their concerns about AI, this Mint Mobile commercial is very much the kind of tongue and cheek response we’ve come to know and love from Reynolds and it is hilarious.

You can see Reynolds at his funniest in movies like Deadpool & Wolverine, a movie without Tilly Norwood.
