The verdict is out on the chicest (and most practical) manicure of the season, so let’s hear it for short nails! If you are an avid nail salon goer, chances are you probably tend to go for longer shapes, but it might be the perfect time to give short nails a try — and we have season 5 of Emily in Paris to thank for it.

Super short nails have their own dedicated fandom — myself included — but there’s no denying the appeal of long nail manicures. Just a couple of weeks ago, I was in Bangkok getting my own manicure done, and my technician was shocked when not only did I not ask for extensions, but I also told her I preferred my nails super short. But, hey, they come with a lot of benefits — if you type a lot, they’ll make your life easier, plus you can change up the colors more regularly if you maintain a shorter length.

If you’ve always been intrigued by the short nail life but never dared to venture into it, one color palette seems to be picking up steam for the winter season, inspired by none other than Lily Collins’s Emily Cooper in Emily in Paris.
