The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed the film with a U/A 16+ certificate. However, the film had to go through several audio modifications. The word ‘screwed’ was asked to be deleted. Similarly, ‘b***h’ and ‘balls’ were also asked to be deleted.
Another word which was similarly censored was ‘wh**e’. Interestingly, 30 minutes footage of Supergirl was screened exclusively for select fans on June 20 in Mumbai. Bollywood Hungama was a part of that screening and one of the scenes shown had a dialogue with the word ‘wh**e’. It is uttered by the lead protagonists in a comical context.
Lastly, the middle finger visual was also asked to be deleted. Once these changes were made, Supergirl was passed on June 23. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 109.58 minutes. In other words, Supergirl is 1 hour, 49 minutes and 58 seconds long.
Meanwhile, Bollywood Hungama reported yesterday that Supergirl initially struggled to get shows due to wide showcasing given by multiplexes to this week’s big Hindi film, Welcome To The Jungle. Almost 24 hours later, the scenario is now better. But as per trade sources, Warner Bros’ struggle still continues for getting the desired showcasing.

On June 10, Bollywood Hungama reported that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) sprang a pleasant surprise by passing three crucial films of the week with zero cuts – Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, Haunted – Echoes Of The Past and Backrooms. However, the sole exception was Disclosure Day. The film received its censor certificate at the eleventh hour and was required to make a few cuts.
CBFC censors ‘sex’ and ‘f**k’ in Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day
In a dialogue in the first act, the word ‘sex’ was muted. It occurs in the scene where Daniel Kellner (Josh O’Connor) learns that his girlfriend, Jane (Eve Hewson), was a nun. When asked whether she still follows the same religious commitments, Jane replies in the negative, pointing out that they’ve already had sex. It is in this dialogue that the CBFC made a change.
The other word that got muted was ‘f**k’, and it occurred twice in the film. Once these changes were made, Disclosure Day was passed with a U/A 13+ certificate on June 11. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, was 145 minutes and 36 seconds. In other words, Disclosure Day is 2 hours, 25 minutes and 36 seconds long.
Disclosure Day is directed by Steven Spielberg, who reunites with screenwriter David Koepp. Both had earlier collaborated on Jurassic Park (1993), The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), War Of The Worlds (2005) and Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull (2008). This is also legendary composer John Williams’s 30th film with the popular filmmaker.
Disclosure Day stars Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo and Eve Hewson. It tells the story of a small-time Kansas City reporter and cybersecurity specialist, Daniel Kellner. Both don’t seem to know the other, but they meet under mysterious circumstances while the world is in chaos.
The sci-fi film opened at 27.6 million USD worldwide and is expected to have a weekend of around 94 million USD. In India, it opened in the range of Rs. 1.75 crores and Rs. 2 crores. The start is fair considering the niche genre and the competition from new and holdover releases.

The Kangana Ranaut-starrer Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, based on the 26/11 terror attacks, was passed with a U/A 16+ rating on May 29. Despite a thriller film with violent scenes, the CBFC’s Examining Committee (EC) found no reason to ask for any cuts.
The length of Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 127.13 minutes. In other words, the film is 2 hours, 7 minutes and 13 seconds long.
Vikram Bhatt returns with Haunted – Echoes Of The Past this week. Like Haunted (2011), this horror film will also be released in 3D. It has been rated ‘A’ and usually, such films are peppered with intimate and horrifying scenes that face scissor cuts.
However, Haunted – Echoes Of The Past is an exception and hasn’t faced any visual or audio cut. The length of the Mimoh Chakraborty-starrer, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 138.54 minutes. In other words, the film is 2 hours, 18 minutes and 54 seconds long. It was passed by the CBFC yesterday, on June 9.
Finally, Backrooms was given an ‘A’ rating by the CBFC on June 8 with no cuts. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 110.54 minutes. In other words, the sci-fi psychological horror Hollywood flick is 1 hour, 50 minutes and 54 seconds long.
There’s some curiosity to see Backrooms as, like Obsession, it has emerged as a sleeper blockbuster. However, viewers are expected to watch the film before being jubilant about no-cuts. This is because there’s a fear that the studio may have voluntarily blurred or removed certain disturbing shots before submitting the film to the CBFC.

Manoj Bajpayee-starrer Governor has officially received certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) ahead of its theatrical release. Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learned that the upcoming political-economic drama has been granted a UA 13+ certificate, clearing a key hurdle in its journey to cinemas.

While the certification has now been awarded, the board has asserted the need of parental guidance while watching the political drama, the certificate also states that all the necessary edits and alterations have been carried out specifically. However, details regarding the recommended cuts, modifications, or alterations have not been revealed. The certification comes just days before the film’s scheduled release on June 12, 2026, and is likely to heighten anticipation among moviegoers eager to watch Manoj Bajpayee in yet another performance-driven role.
Inspired by extraordinary real-life events, Governor is set against the backdrop of one of the most significant periods in India’s economic history. The film explores a time when the country found itself on the brink of a major financial crisis, requiring decisive action and strong leadership to navigate the challenges ahead.
At the centre of the narrative is Manoj Bajpayee, who essays the role of a determined Governor entrusted with steering the nation through a period of uncertainty and immense pressure. The film aims to chronicle the difficult decisions, strategic thinking, and resilience that helped shape a crucial chapter in the country’s economic journey.
Backed by Sunshine Pictures, Governor is directed by Chinmay Mandlekar and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, with Aashin A. Shah serving as co-producer. The screenplay has been penned by Suvendu Bhattacharyjee, Saurabh Bharat, Ravi Asrani, and Vipul Amrutlal Shah.
The film also features Adah Sharma and Madhoo in key roles. Adding to its creative credentials, the project boasts lyrics by veteran poet and lyricist Javed Akhtar, while the music has been composed by Amit Trivedi.

The much-awaited film Peddi is all set to release on June 4 and its makers have completed the censor process way in advance. In this story, Bollywood Hungama will feature on the cuts given to the Pan-India entertainer’s original Telugu version.
Peddi was passed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a U/A 16+ certificate. However, the makers were asked to make several changes. Words like ‘Loudesh’, ‘Bokka’, ‘Lambdi kodaka’, ‘M***r C**d’, ‘Dongamunda kodaka’ and ‘Kalchi padi denguta’ were asked to be muted or modified. The words ‘Saruku saman’ in the ‘Chikiri Chikiri’ song were asked to be modified. In the second half, the word ‘Rajasthan’ and a reference to a community were asked to be deleted.
Thankfully, no visual cut was imposed on the film. In other words, the action and violent scenes remain intact. The only modification requested was to cover the shot of the middle finger with CG visuals.
Once these changes were made, the makers of Peddi were handed over the censor certificate on May 22. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 189.00 minutes. In other words, Peddi is 3 hours and 9 minutes long.
Peddi stars Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, Boman Irani and others. It is written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru and co-produced by Ishan Saksena. Oscar-winning A R Rahman has composed the songs. Jio Studios will handle the North India distribution. It’ll also release in the IMAX format.
At the trailer launch, Ram Charan said, “Last 25-30 days, we were doing kushti and pehelwan shoots. And I asked our director Buchi Babu Sana to get trained artists, but he got real pehelwans. While shooting, I got a cartilage tear, but that’s fine. It’s worth it, and it’s a beautiful memory of Peddi.”

The makers, Dharma Productions, completed the censor process well in advance and in this article, Bollywood Hungama will exclusively focus on the cuts given to the film.
EXCLUSIVE: CBFC censors 96 seconds of kissing scenes in Lakshya-Ananya Panday starrer Chand Mera Dil
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed Chand Mera Dil with a U/A 16+ certificate. However, the makers were asked to make two modifications. Firstly, the kissing visuals, lasting 10 seconds, were asked to be deleted and replaced with appropriate shots. Secondly, ‘lip lock kissing visuals’, lasting 1 minute and 26 seconds, were asked to be deleted. In other words, the CBFC has censored 96 seconds or 1 minute and 36 seconds of kissing shots in Chand Mera Dil. Lastly, the makers were asked to submit a consent letter for all the child artists used in the film.
Once the changes were made, the CBFC handed over the censor certificate on May 8. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 135.36 minutes. In other words, Chand Mera Dil is 2 hours, 15 minutes and 36 seconds long.
The advance booking of Chand Mera Dil is expected to start from Monday, May 18. It is directed by Vivek Soni of Meenakshi Sundareshwar (2021) and Aap Jaisa Koi (2025) fame and produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Somen Mishra and Marijke deSouza.
On Saturday, May 16, Bollywood Hungama reported that on the day of its release, May 22, tickets for all shows before 5:00 pm will be available for just Rs. 149. After 5:00 pm, the tickets will be sold for Rs. 199.
