The trio will miss the three-match series against Pakistan starting May 30, with uncapped all-rounder Liam Scott and Australia Under-19 World Cup captain Ollie Peake earning their first senior international call-ups in a new-look Australian squad.
Young batter Joel Davies is another new face after he was selected for the T20 series against Bangladesh in June.
Travis Head, Cooper Connolly, Ben Dwarshuis and Xavier Bartlett will travel to Bangladesh once their Indian Premier League (IPL) commitments are completed, while veteran all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was omitted altogether.
Mitchell Marsh will be the captain across both tours as Australia begins its preparations for the ICC ODI World Cup to be held in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe in October next year.
Selection chairman George Bailey said the tours presented opportunities for emerging players.
“It’s always exciting to see new players get an opportunity to play international cricket and be a part of the national team,” Bailey said. “The blend of experienced players coupled with new or returning players will provide a nice mix for these subcontinent tours.
“Continuing to provide opportunities for players to develop across a broad range of conditions and experiences is important and will continue to be a focus over the next 18 months to two years.”
Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood are expected to use the break to prepare for Australia’s World Test Championship campaign, which resumes in August in a two-Test home series against Bangladesh.
Australia plays Pakistan in three ODIs in Rawalpindi (May 30) and Lahore (June 2 and 4) before traveling to Bangladesh for three ODI games in Dhaka (June 9, 11 and 14) and three T20 Internationals in Chattogram (June 17, 19 and 21).

The 22-year-old Australian doesn’t attempt to manufacture those cheeky shots that have become synonymous with T20 cricket but rather relies on his gift of timing and placement.
Neither does he try to force the pace of the game. During his 182-run stand with the belligerent Priyansh Arya, he bided his time in the PowerPlay before finishing with a 46-ball 87 that helped the Kings to a match-winning 254 for seven against Lucknow Super Giants.

“Everyone has their own understanding of their ability and how they go about it, and what works for them. It is about individually understanding what works for you in those moments and what makes you successful for a long period of time. We have discussions about what works for each other, and we take little things from each other’s books,” Connolly said, while adding that he was enjoying watching Priyansh ‘go about it in his own way’ from the non-striker’s end.
For Connolly, who tops the run charts for the Kings, with 223 runs in five innings, ‘there is a time and a place’ for innovative stroke-making.
“I think it is about knowing their strengths and sticking to their strengths. They know where they’re dominant. They know what some areas that they might get targeted in are,” Connolly said about the different approaches of the Kings batters.
It was a similar case of backing his strengths and ability for Super Giants pacer Prince Yadav, who bowled a stingy spell (2/25 in four overs) in a match that saw more than 450 runs being plundered.
“The plan was to bowl as many yorkers as I could; it is something I have been working on.”

The host’s bowlers rose in unison to defend a mammoth 254, this season’s highest total, which was set up by Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly’s blistering 182-run partnership off 80 balls for the second wicket.
The Super Giants were cruising at 61 for no loss in the sixth over, with Ayush Badoni’s promotion as opener reaping dividends, before Vijaykumar Vyshak dismissed him off the last ball of the PowerPlay.
Rishabh Pant’s consecutive sixes off Marco Jansen in the following over, including a trademark one-handed swing that cleared long-on, kept Super Giants’ hopes afloat.
However, with Pant and Nicholas Pooran falling in the span of two overs, and 113 runs to get from the last five overs, the Super Giants were fighting a battle they couldn’t win.
Earlier, batting first for the first time this IPL, the Kings rode on Priyansh and Connolly to post 254 for seven, this season’s highest total.
The left-handed duo’s assault on a hapless attack was of such magnitude that the final five overs, which yielded 61 runs, seemed sedate in comparison.
The Kings were roaring at 179 for one after 13 overs, following a 32-run over bowled by Aiden Markram, which contained five sixes.
