On July 21, 2026, Prime Video announced that its Original movie Phoolan has been selected for a Special Presentation at the 51st edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (Toronto International Film Festival ), which will run from September 10 to 20, 2026. The film will be showcased at the festival on September 16 at 6 PM ET, at the Princess of Wales Theatre. Inspired by the book I, Phoolan – The Autobiography of India’s Bandit Queen, by Phoolan Devi, the film tells the story of a defining chapter in her life, whereby thousands of men trap her in a village in an attempt to kill her. The film revolves around Arshad Warsi’s dual characters, Jeevan and Bheema—a debt-ridden common man and his dangerous lookalike—whose lives intersect in unexpected circumstances, leading to a series of chaotic events. Sanjeeda Shaikh plays Yojana, a resourceful wife who devises an ambitious fraud, while Vijay Raaz essays the role of Vinayak, a mysterious man with secrets that gradually unfold.
Sharing details about the film, director Abhishek Dogra said, “Jeevan Bheema Yojana is a film about ordinary people making one extraordinary, catastrophic decision — and then spending the rest of the film paying for it. Along with confirming the release date, the team also unveiled a new poster featuring the ensemble cast and announced that the much-awaited trailer of the film will be launched tomorrow.

Aakhri Sawal has been generating considerable curiosity ever since its announcement, particularly due to its teaser which hinted at politically and historically sensitive themes linked to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. However, the film recently encountered hurdles during the CBFC review process, leading to uncertainty around both its release schedule and promotional campaign. The certification delay reportedly put the trailer launch plans on hold while the makers awaited official clearance.
Now, with the censor process completed and the film receiving the green signal, the production team has resumed its promotional rollout.
