Jeff Garlin reportedly stormed out of a recent standup performance in California after an apparent misunderstanding over an $800 payment.

Members of the audience and organizers were reportedly taken aback by Garlin’s behavior, as it is unlikely he has run into money problems following years in the spotlight.

Jeff Garlin’s career suffered a huge blow after it was alleged that he contributed to a demeaning work culture by engaging “in a pattern of verbal and physical conduct” on the set of “The Goldbergs.”

Garlin took things personally and bailed on performing in a standup show he was booked for over an $800 payment.

The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star was supposed to headline a comedy dinner at the Calabasas Country Club in Southern California for $800 in cash.

However, when he arrived at the venue, organizers opted to pay him in a check rather than cold hard cash, so he walked out.

“The crowd was p-ssed,” an insider said, per Page Six. “Most of them had come to see Jeff.”

According to the news outlet, there were about 40 people in the audience for the regular comedy night, which appears on the country club’s schedule amid bingo nights and a Father’s Day brunch.

Garlin’s behavior over an $800 payment comes as a surprise after his highly successful TV career.

The 62-year-old comedian not only played Jeff Greene in all 12 seasons of the critically acclaimed HBO series “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” but was also a co-star on 10 seasons of “The Goldbergs.”

He also saw moderate success starring in “Cars 2,” the 2010 and 2019 “Toy Story” sequels, and “WALL-E.” So, all this considered, it’s unlikely Garlin is broke.

However, a source told Page Six that the actor’s behavior is probably not about the money.

“Jeff can be a very neurotic guy,” a source noted. “He can get hung up on things.”

Garlin’s TV career took a hit a few years ago due to allegations of fostering a toxic and uncomfortable workplace environment on the set of “The Goldbergs” through his behavior.

In a 2021 report, several sources told Vanity Fair that Garlin contributed to a demeaning work culture, particularly for the women who worked on the show, as one source stated that he “engaged in a pattern of verbal and physical conduct on set that made people uncomfortable.”

Another source claimed Garlin often used language some people found “inappropriate” and that he would “touch or hug people whether or not they were comfortable with that contact.”

A third insider said: “He got away with it because he would call himself out for it—saying he was a big teddy bear, saying things like, ‘Oh you know me, just a big bowl of mush, I’m a hugger. I just love you.'”

At the time, the allegations caused quite an upheaval, sparking speculations that he was fired from the show, which he denied.

In his interview with Vanity Fair, Garlin admitted to “silly” behaviors but insisted that he meant no harm.

“I’m on a comedy show. I am always a kind and thoughtful person. I make mistakes, sure. But my comedy is about easing people’s pain. Why would I ever want to cause pain in anybody for a laugh? That’s bullying. That’s just uncalled for,” he said.
