The Handmaid’s Tale may have concluded with an explosive finale earlier this year, but Gilead endures in the new sequel series The Testaments. At Hulu’s panel at CCXP in Brazil, the streamer revealed some first-look images at the next generation…and of returning character Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd). The series is set to premiere in April 2026 on Hulu.

The new images showcase the series’ new setting; away from the halls of power of a Christofascist, misogynistic regime, where The Handmaid’s Tale took place, the series will take place in an academy for the daughters of Gilead’s elite, where women are taught “their proper place” in a society where they are little more than property. In addition to Dowd, the new images showcase the new cast playing the academy’s students, including Chase Infiniti (One Battle After Another), Lucy Halliday (California Schemin’), Rowan Blanchard (Girl Meets World), Mattea Conforti (The Many Saints of Newark), Isolde Ardies (Wayward), Shechinah Mpumlwana (Rookie Blue), and Birva Pandya (The Institute). The series also stars Mabel Li (New Gold Mountain), Amy Seimetz (No Sudden Move), Brad Alexander (You), Zarrin Darnell-Martin (Ginny & Georgia), Eva Foote (Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy), and Kira Guloien (Women Talking).

The Testaments will premiere on Hulu in April 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
