The Institute Release Date Set for New Stephen King Show Starring Ben Barnes

MGM+ has officially announced the release date for its upcoming series adaptation of Stephen King‘s 2019 sci-fi horror novel The Institute. The story centers around children with telepathic abilities, as they get abducted and taken to a secret facility that aims to perform experiments on them.

“The series follows the story of teen genius Luke Ellis who is kidnapped and awakens at The Institute, a facility full of children who all got there the same way he did, and who are all possessed of unusual abilities. In a nearby town, haunted former police officer Tim Jamieson has come looking to start a new life, but the peace and quiet won’t last, as his story and Luke’s are destined to collide,” reads the show’s official synopsis.

When is The Institute release date?

The Institute is scheduled to debut on July 13, 2025, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, exclusively on MGM+. The ensemble cast includes Mary-Louise Parker as Ms. Sigsby, Ben Barnes as Tim Jamieson, Joe Freeman as Luke Ellis, Simone Miller as Kalisha, Fionn Laird as Nick, Hannah Galway as Wendy, Julian Richings as Stackhouse, Robert Joy as Dr. Hendricks, and Martin Roach as Chief Ashworth.

The show is executive-produced and directed by Jack Bender (Mr. Mercedes). In addition, Cavell also co-wrote the teleplay. King is also serving as an executive producer along with Benjamin Cavell (The Stand), Gary Barber, Sam Sheridan, and Ed Redlich. It is a production by Amazon MGM Studios.
