Spoiler Alert: This list contains spoilers for ‘The Morning Show’ Season 4, Episode 2.The Morning Show is off to a great start with the first two episodes of Season 4 already out. With the drama series renewed for a fifth season ahead of the Season 4 premiere, the story will heat up and probably leave some questions by the end as to how things move forward at UBN.
But when it comes to the plot in Season 4, there are a lot of things that need to be addressed before the 10-episode season concludes. From challenging times at the network to crises in the personal lives of all the main characters, and many houses of cards primed to come crashing down, there are things that need attention now to keep viewers glued to the screens.
1
What Will Happen With the Roya Situation?
In the Season 4 premiere, Alex (Jennifer Aniston) has secured an interview with Roya (Ava Lalezarzadeh), a young top fencer from Iran who will be competing in the Paris Olympics. There’s a lot riding on this exclusive interview, which will kick off their coverage prior to the games. But when the father slips Alex a note saying that he and his daughter want to defect, she’s caught in a tough position. She helps them, but it comes crashing down on her, especially when she learns that the father works for Iran’s nuclear operation as a scientist.
While Season 4, Episode 2’s “The Revolution Will Be Televised” covers an elaborate deepfake meant to implicate Alex in the escape, suggesting she had pre-planned it all along (thankfully, they were able to discern that the footage was doctored), this can’t possibly be the end of the story. Alex will face pressure from Iran and the network will have to deal with legal hot water for what she did.

AI and Its Implications for the Network
One of Stella’s (Greta Lee) big moves once taking over as CEO of UBN was investing heavily in AI technology. As in the real world, however, this was met with a lot of questions and a lot of push back. Will this technology replace real newscasters? How can the public trust what they are hearing from the AI? And how can staff this technology isn’t taking their jobs?
As is evident in real life, AI can be helpful, but it can also wreak havoc in so many ways. Surely, Stella’s move to put so many eggs in an AI basket can’t go off without a hitch. With so much riding on their Paris Olympics coverage, and the network facing challenge after challenge, it’s inevitable that something will go awry. The proverbial AI elephant in the room needs to be addressed.

Will Celine Figure Out Miles and Stella Are Having an Affair?
Fans were delighted for Stella when she met a passionate partner. They seemed for a split second like one of the best couples in The Morning Show. They played sexy games, pretending they didn’t know one another in a bar before meeting up and having a steamy night in his studio. They shared conversations about the pressures of their jobs and talked about running away together. So, it’s clear this is more than just a casual thing. But that perception all comes crashing down when it’s revealed that Miles (Aaron Pierre) is not only married, but he’s married to Stella’s boss Celine (Marion Cotillard), head of the board of the network.
This is a can of worms that will almost definitely get out at some point. In fact, the end of “The Revolution Will Be Televised” suggests that Stella’s back is against the wall because someone who isn’t afraid to use that information against her has it. The fallout will undoubtedly be epic.

Claire Conway’s Role in the New Season
In the Season 4 premiere, “My Roman Empire”, Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) receives a text message from a mysterious person calling themselves gaiawarrior96. They need her help breaking a story that involves people in a town being poisoned. Bradley is always up for a good story, but she also learns that UBN, or at least the UBN as it was prior to the ladies taking over, covered it up. The story was killed years ago, and this person wants to air the dirty laundry and save these innocent people.
Bradley enlists the help of Chip (Mark Duplass) because she knows she can trust him—he has experience researching stories, has a bone to pick with UBN like she does, and was employed there at the time this cover-up happened. They wrack their brains trying to figure it out, and when the person doesn’t show up to a meeting, they realize just how scared they might be. It finally hits Chip—there was one person in the room during all those discussions that no one paid attention to, and who also has an axe to grind with UBN: Claire Conway. If he’s right, it’s exciting to consider that Bel Powley might return to the show, and it’s evident that things will get very, very messy.
5
Will the Details of What Bradley Did Ever Get Out?
After the fallout of Season 3 of The Morning Show, one of the best shows on Apple TV+ this fall, Bradley managed to cut a deal with the FBI to not only stay out of jail but have the details of what she did kept under wraps as well. She went on to take a teaching job, but she has a federal handler keeping an eye on her. If she ever comes across anything notable, like this case, she needs to alert them of the findings.
She’s stuck between a rock and a hard place, and this is weighing on her so much that when she returns to “The Morning Show,” she flubs her first appearance. Bradley starts going off on a tangent about what her brother did and almost admits to what she did, but holds back. The clock is ticking and Bradley’s guilty conscience might eventually catch up with her.
6
The History Between Alex and Her Dad
Fans get to meet Alex’s dad for the first time in the Season 4 premiere. Martin (Jeremy Irons) is a stereotypical academic who seems to be exactly how Alex has described him. He passively aggressively insults her and her career and rebuffs the help she asks of him. It’s clear there’s a heavy tension between them. He flippantly asks her to speak to a student from the alumni magazine about his work since he’s about to become dean, and they’re doing a story on him. He’s looking for fun anecdotes, “something frothy and light, the sort of thing you’re good at,” he tells his daughter. Ouch.
There’s a lot more to this relationship and fans want to know what the source of their friction is. Something must have happened to drive a wedge between them so deeply. It’s evident a lot of her father’s treatment of her shaped the person Alex is today, notably all her flaws and guarded personality.
7
Paul’s Role in the Story
Jon Hamm is confirmed to return to the series that critics obsess over, reprising his role as Paul Marks. But it’s a question mark as to how and in what capacity. While he seemed to truly care for Alex, she betrayed him at the end of Season 3 by blackmailing him with compromising information she had on his company. It left him without a deal for UBN and shut completely out of a project he was planning to work on that year.
While he undoubtedly moved on with his business still intact since that information didn’t get out, the fact that Paul will pop back up again suggests there’s unfinished business. Will he be an ally or a foe? That remains to be seen.
8
The Sexual Tension Between Alex and Brody
Brody (Boyd Holbrook) is the obnoxious right-wing podcaster that works at UBN, someone Alex can’t stand for both his views and his attitude. She also hates that the network needs him and his brash podcast that gets by with no editorial oversight because he brings in the advertising dollars they need to survive. Their brief encounters always include some ribbing, and Alex almost seems disgusted by him. But there’s some obvious sexual tension.
Alex has a habit of getting into bed with co-workers, so it wouldn’t be surprising if something happens. Either way, Brody seems to be the one they can come to when they need something to be heard. His millions of listeners love a controversy and his podcast isn’t met with the same scrutiny as the regular news. Perhaps as a man, he’s far different from his on-air persona and Alex may begin to see that.
9
Mia’s Evolving Character Arc
Mia (Karen Pittman), one of the most likable characters on The Morning Show, has shown the most growth over the seasons. She started as a producer who didn’t seem confident in her abilities and grew into someone who could command the room without second-guessing herself. But she is also showing evidence of being tyrannical, almost villainous, such as when she chastises Christine (Nicole Beharie) when the anchor is simply trying to find a good work-life balance.
The character arc as Mia vies for a promotion is likely to be interesting. The more she rises up the ranks, she may lose a bit of herself as she gains more power.
10
Cory Getting Back Into the Fold
Cory (Billy Crudup) is the type of person who is often down but is never out. He always finds a way to slither himself back in, and he did just that in Season 4, Episode 2, “The Revolution Will Be Televised.” After begging Stella for a deal with the network and watching her shut him down gleefully, he finds an ace. He notices her distinctive lighter in Miles’ studio, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to put two and two together.
A blackmail phone call to Stella and chances are, Cory will be back at UBN with his own office, a massive movie production deal, and holding something over Stella’s head that could threaten her job. How this all plays out is something fans are eager to see this season.
