“There was no way I was going to quit that mission.” 🚀 Haviland Digital has revealed the official trailer for a documentary film titled Spacewoman, ready for launch into theaters this March. The film premiered at the 2025 DOC NYC Film Festival, and also stopped by last year’s CPH:DOX, now arriving home in the US for everyone to watch. Astronaut Eileen Collins was the first woman to pilot and command an American spacecraft. Born on the other side of the tracks in upstate New York, she smashed many glass ceilings in the US Air Force & NASA in her career, culminating in four increasingly dramatic and dangerous space shuttle missions. The film features Col. Eileen Collins, Bridget Youngs, Pat Youngs, Luke Youngs, Charlie Camarda, Cady Coleman, Dr. Mike Foale, Wayne Hale, Paul Hill, Marcia Dunn. “It was really extraordinary to have been a woman breaking through into this world at that time. Since NASA now plans to send a crew to the moon again that will, this time, include women, it made sense to look back at the story of this woman who trail-blazed for other women to follow.” An inspiring story to tell! With an incredible set of archival materials, intimate interviews, and a moving score by Marcelo Zarvos, Berryman’s nail-biting doc film shares the emotional journey experienced by Eileen’s family, exploring what level of risk is acceptable in human endeavor. Spacewoman is directed by doc filmmaker Hannah Berryman, director of the films Miss World 1970: Beauty Queens and Bedlam and Rockfield: The Studio on the Farm previously, plus many other doc projects.
