Despite Odell Beckham Jr.’s best efforts, you can’t wear your six-figure Richard Mille watch in an NFL game (or any other kind of watch, for that matter). You can, however, wear one while playing in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, as Travis Scott recently demonstrated on a sweltering LA day. While Beckham legendarily opted for his RM 11-03 McLaren, a Formula One-themed chronograph with Cleveland Browns-esque orange accents, Scott’s choice was the equally covetable RM 27-04 Rafael Nadal Tourbillon, a limited edition of just 50 pieces dedicated to the eponymous tennis GOAT.

Scott, of course, is no stranger to the pleasures of haute horlogerie, having collabed on a “Cactus Jack” Edition Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar with Audemars Piguet a few years back. As a highly-limited edition collab from a top-tier watchmaker, RM 27-04 is very much in the same league, and an incredible creation in its own right. The RM 27-04 came out in 2020 to celebrate a decade-long partnership between the Swiss watchmaker and the Spanish tennis legend, and it was every bit worthy of the occasion. A successor to the 2010 RM 027 Rafael Nadal, a patently bonkers creation weighing in at just 20 grams, including the strap, the RM 27-04 weighs in at a comparably chonky 30 grams, but more than makes up for the weight gain with one of the most beautiful movements in the Richard Mille catalog. Inside its polyamide-strengthened carbon fiber case, the watch is powered by a manually wound tourbillon movement suspended on a piece of braided steel measuring just 0.27mm in diameter. This, in turn, is woven into a grid resembling the surface of a tennis racket—all the better to help the watch maintain superlative accuracy when worn on court by Nadal. The result is a design that allows the watch to withstand forces in excess of 12,000 Gs—in other words, more than enough to weather a friendly game of flag football.
