Trump Announces Pause in War on Iran Hours After Denmanding ‘Peace Through Strength’

Donald Trump shared a new development in his war on Iran.

The 79-year-old president took to social media early Monday morning (March 23) to reveal that he’d ordered a pause in strikes on the Middle Eastern country’s “power plants and energy infrastructure.”

He said that the development occurred following “very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East.” His latest update comes mere hours after Trump posted the statement “Peace through strength, to put it mildly!!!”

“I AM PLEASED TO REPORT THAT THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND THE COUNTRY OF IRAN, HAVE HAD, OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS, VERY GOOD AND PRODUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS REGARDING A COMPLETE AND TOTAL RESOLUTION OF OUR HOSTILITIES IN THE MIDDLE EAST,” he wrote in a post on Truth Social.

Trump continued, adding, “BASED ON THE TENOR AND TONE OF THESE IN DEPTH, DETAILED, AND CONSTRUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS, WHICH WILL CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE WEEK, I HAVE INSTRUCTED THE DEPARTMENT OF WAR TO POSTPONE ANY AND ALL MILITARY STRIKES AGAINST IRANIAN POWER PLANTS AND ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE FOR A FIVE DAY PERIOD, SUBJECT TO THE SUCCESS OF THE ONGOING MEETINGS AND DISCUSSIONS.”

Just Jared contacted the White House for additional clarification regarding if there will be any other ongoing military activity in the area. However, a spokesperson had not responded at the time of publication.

The president, working alongside Israel, launched a strike on Iran on February 28.

“Operation Epic Fury” is thought to have cost the United States more than $11 billion in its first week.

During the war, Trump raised questions about when it would end, adding confusion to the matter when he defended competing claims that the strike was both “very complete” and “just the beginning.”
