Will Ferrell owns one of the most fun and eclectic watch collections on earth. The comedian typically pursues bright colors and will take them however he can get them, whether that’s in the form of a Rolex Submariner or a Barbie-ready pink Oris. He also isn’t afraid to follow his passions to the deeper cuts of the industry—he recently found himself down another rabbit hole after he picked up the Adventure Chrono NHL Limited Edition, from Swiss watchmaker Norqain.

Norqain is most famous for two qualities that make it an immediate match for Ferrell’s collection. First, it’s the official watch partner of the NHL and counts Mark Streit, a Stanley Cup champion with the Nashville Predators, as a co-founder, as well as legendary hockey player (and a guy I’ll never forgive for scoring the golden goal against the US in the 2010 Olympics gold medal game) Sidney Crosby as an investor. Ferrell is a diehard fan of the Los Angeles Kings, even dressing up as a referee or as his Elf character Buddy for games. Norqain is also known for making extremely bright watches—its most popular model is the Wild One that comes in icy turquoise, mint green, and, per the brand, “hyper pink”—that Ferrell has shown a soft spot for.

However, the watch Ferrell added to his collection leans more into Norqain’s sport-watch DNA than its kink for color. The new watch is a chronograph (a stopwatch feature) with a unique black-and-white “panda” dial with several hockey-themed nods. The white face resembles pre-Zamboni’d ice, the sub-register at 9 o’clock looks like a face-off circle with two sticks and a puck embedded in it, and the NHL logo sits at 6 o’clock. The rubber strap is even made out of material from a hockey puck. All these details must have tickled Ferrell, who received the watch as a gift from Norqain and LA Kings left winger Kevin Fiala, according to Lorel Monroy, a client advisor at Feldmar Watch Company who presented him with the new piece. Ferrell is the platonic ideal of a watch collector. He assembles pieces of all price points, chasing down colors that compel him, commemorating big projects, and finding watches that match with his passions.
