‘Will Trent’ and Betty the Chihuahua Are Back on the Case in a New Season 4 Promo [Exclusive]

The time has almost come for Will Trent fans, with the hit ABC series heading into its fourth season at the top of the new year. While those dedicated viewers of High Potential and 9-1-1 might be waiting a bit for their favorite titles to make their return after cliffhanger-filled midseason finales, the action for the Ramón Rodríguez-led procedural will pick up at the top of the year when the series returns on January 6, 2026. Today, in anticipation of the Season 4 premiere, Collider is excited to share a sneak peek of what to expect from the debut episode, which is titled “Speaking of Sharks.” A lot of storylines were left up in the air when the third season bowed out back in May, giving fans a full eight months to theorize about what will happen next.

Set to the iconic sounds of The Chambers Brothers’ “Time Has Come,” our sneak peek offers an inside look into the world of Rodríguez’s titular special agent. Heading back to the office, the promo sees Will posted up behind his desk, giving himself a pump-up speech before embarking on a brand-new case. With a new killer on the loose, Will is doing everything in his power to hunt him down before it’s too late — even if that means going above orders passed down by his superior. We get a few quick glimpses at the other faces that will be front and center during the next set of episodes — including his dog, Betty, the true hero of the show — before the teaser fades to black, leaving us more eager than ever before for the new year and new episodes of Will Trent.

Where Season 3 of ‘Will Trent’ Left Us

A lot went down in that Season 3 finale last spring, after Will and his crew at the GBI were tasked with the unthinkable — prevent a domestic terrorism attack that saw all of Atlanta as potential victims thanks to a poisoning scheme. In the end, the group was able to thwart the plan, but Amanda Wagner (Sonja Sohn) took a bullet while protecting Angie (Erika Christensen). The good news is, we know that Amanda survived her gunshot wound and will rejoin the force in Season 4. The tricky news is that Angie is officially out in the open about her pregnancy with Seth’s (Scott Foley) baby, which seemingly puts a full stop to the on-again-off-again relationship between her and Will.

Check out our exclusive sneak peek at the latest promo for Will Trent’s fourth season above and head over to Hulu now to get caught up on the first three seasons ahead of the title’s January 6 return.
