Louisville Cardinals guard Mikel Brown Jr. (0) was unfazed after he scored 45 points with 10-for-16 3-point shooting as the Cards roll past NC State 118-77 at the KFC Yum! Center in downtown Louisville February 9, 2026. Louisville freshman guard and projected lottery pick Mikel Brown Jr. declared for the 2026 NBA Draft on Tuesday.
“Since I first picked up a basketball, it’s been my dream to play in the NBA,” he posted on Instagram. “I’ve decided to take that leap, declare for the draft, and chase that dream. No matter where the game takes me, Louisville will always be a part of who I am.”
The 6-foot-5 Brown averaged 18.2 points, 4.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 21 games (19 starts) for the Cardinals this season. He missed 14 games with a back injury but made the Atlantic Coast Conference all-rookie team and All-ACC third team.
Brown set an ACC single-game freshman record by scoring 45 points in a 118-77 victory against NC State on Feb. 9, eclipsing the mark of 42 set by Duke’s Cooper Flagg the previous season. He knocked down 10 3-pointers.
A McDonald’s All-American at DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Fla., Brown was a consensus five-star recruit in the Class of 2025. He was the top-ranked point guard and No. 8 player overall by the 247 Sports composite.
ESPN recently projected Brown as the seventh overall selection in the June 25-26 draft.

For the first half of Tuesday evening, the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati witnessed rain at varying intensities. The latter part saw a different sort of downpour — a hailstorm of boundaries from the blades of Rajasthan Royals openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
The left-handed duo’s batting deluge swept away a dazed Mumbai Indians side as the Royals sailed to a comfortable 27-run win in a rain-truncated IPL 2026 match here in the wee hours of Wednesday.
The triumph lifted the Royals to the top of the standings following their third successive win, while it was a second defeat on the trot for MI.
Earlier, an intense afternoon thunderstorm, followed by on-and-off drizzle, had threatened to nip the game in the bud.
But the weather relented around 9 PM, allowing the ground staff to salvage an 11-over shootout, which proved to be as enthralling as a full-fledged game.

Jaiswal lit the fuse for the batting carnival with a stunning first-over takedown of Deepak Chahar that yielded 22 runs after MI skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss.
From the other end, Suryavanshi showed no signs of nerves in his much-hyped-up face-off with Jasprit Bumrah. In fact, the 15-year-old welcomed the MI pacer with a six – a sure-footed whip over long on. He backed it up by getting inside the line and pulling Bumrah over square leg for another maximum.
Jaiswal and Suryavanshi were on a single-minded offensive charge, taking on all MI bowlers alike, depositing them to all parts of the ground.

By the time Shardul Thakur had caught Suryavanshi caught at deep extra cover, the Royals openers had already racked up 80 from just five overs.
Jaiswal, though, continued with his flamboyant shot-making ways to bring up his second consecutive fifty as the Royals rocketed to 150.
The required-run-rate pressure didn’t take too long to impair MI’s response — the visiting side lost a wicket each in its first three overs.
Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi’s two-wicket burst in the fifth over effectively shut the door for the visiting side in the contest that soon wound up in the Royals’ favour.
