Apr 11, 2026; Augusta, Georgia, USA; Jon Rahm chips onto the 14th green during the third round of the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club. Mandatory Credit: Kyle Terada-Imagn Images AUGUSTA, Ga. — Jon Rahm floundered to 50th on the Masters leaderboard and 5-over through 54 holes on Saturday with a scorecard lined with bogeys.
Rahm was 17 shots back of leader and budding rival Rory McIlroy when the Spaniard bogeyed the 18th with his third five on a par-4 hole on the back nine on Saturday at Augusta National.
“Well, the only thing about a weekend like today, once things are not going well enough, is you can start trying things just to see how it feels or how you can do it in competition, right?” Rahm said. “Just a bit of what I did today. Probably what I’ll do tomorrow. Hitting it on the range is one thing; doing it on the golf course is a different thing.”
Rahm is tied with countryman and fellow LIV Golf circuit member Sergio Garcia entering the final round of the first major of the PGA Tour season. Rahm battled to make the cut following a first-round 78 with a 70 on Friday in the second. And the third round started with some promise. He birdied the first and third and sat 2-under before the third-round collapse as he carded a 73.
The 2023 Masters champion said he was using the latter holes of the third round to work on parts of his game he wouldn’t otherwise attempt in a tournament setting.
“Golf is golf,” he insisted when pressed about the challenge of transitioning to the Masters after spending the year to date in LIV competitions, where he had 17 top-five finishes in his first 30 events.
Rahm has never won the PGA Championship, which is the next major — May 14-18 at Aronimink Golf Club — one month before the 126th U.S. Open Championship at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. Rahm has two top-10 finishes in 10 career starts at the PGA Championship. He won the U.S. Open in 2021.
Trophy form wasn’t visible often during his first three rounds at Augusta this week. Rahm said he has an idea why he didn’t have a great week at the Masters, but wouldn’t disclose the diagnosis. He did offer that it wouldn’t be a swing change, but might involve putting.
“I’ll tell you one thing: My putting hasn’t been the best and I’ve been putting the line the last two days which I rarely ever do, right, just to help me a little bit,” he said.
Bogeys on Saturday at No. 5, 11, 14 and 18 left Rahm with little shot at a 77th top 10 and even his 107th career Top 25 finish was going to take a stellar 18. Rahm said he was perhaps already “too far away” to make noise prior to Saturday.
“I’m going to need an absolute miracle,” he said Friday.
The miracle didn’t come, and Rahm might get the double-knuckle shot with McIlroy maintaining his sensational pace atop the leaderboard.
McIlroy has been outspoken since the LIV Golf split from the PGA Tour and more recently in questioning Rahm’s resistance to meeting the stipulations of the DP World Tour requiring participation in events to be in consideration for the Ryder Cup.
McIlroy said it’s “a really generous deal.”

Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has left open the possibility of Neymar earning a place in his 26-man squad for this year’s World Cup, saying the forward has two months to prove he has the required qualities. Ancelotti has consistently maintained that Neymar will be in contention if he is fully fit but the attacker was excluded from Brazil’s squad for last month’s warm-up matches against France and Croatia.
Neymar, Brazil’s all-time leading scorer with 79 goals, has not played for the national team since suffering a serious knee injury in October 2023 and has struggled to maintain a consistent run of matches since returning to Santos last year. Brazil’s 2-1 defeat to France in Boston prompted fans to chant Neymar’s name but Ancelotti dismissed the reaction at the time, saying attention should focus on the players selected.

Now, however, the Italian has suggested that the Santos forward remains part of his thinking as Brazil assesses its options ahead of the World Cup, which runs from June 11 to July 19 in North America and Mexico.
“He’s a great talent, and it’s normal that people think he can help us win the next World Cup,” Ancelotti said in an interview with French newspaper L’Equipe.
“He’s currently being evaluated by the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) , by me, and he still has two months to show that he has the qualities to play in the next World Cup.
“After his knee injury, Neymar has made a good comeback; he’s scoring goals. He needs to continue in this direction and improve his fitness. He’s on the right track.”
Brazil is in Group C alongside Morocco, Haiti and Scotland in the World Cup and will begin its campaign on June 13 at New Jersey Stadium.

Apr 11, 2026; Austin, Texas, USA; Austin FC midfielder Joseph Rosales (30) controls the ball against LA Galaxy midfielder Lucas Sanabria (8) during the first half at Q2 Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Dustin Safranek-Imagn Images Maya Yoshida and Erik Thommy scored goals and James Marcinkowski produced five saves as the visiting Los Angeles Galaxy snapped a four-game winless streak with a 2-1 victory over struggling Austin FC on Saturday afternoon in a Western Conference match.
Thommy’s goal in the 78th minute proved to be the difference in a match between a pair of offensively challenged teams that had combined to go eight matches without a win.
The Galaxy (2-3-2, 8 points) leapfrogged Austin FC in the standings with the victory, their first in MLS play since Feb. 28 before the 0-3-1 stretch.
Myrto Uzuni scored for Austin (1-3-3, 6 points), which extended its winless stretch to five matches (0-3-2) and still has not scored more than two goals in a match this season. The Verde has not won since a 1-0 home decision over D.C. United on March 1 and have scored a combined five goals in their past five contests.
The Verde was on the aggressive from the kickoff, with Christian Ramirez forcing LA goalkeeper Marcinkowski into a sprawling save in the match’s third minute. Thommy responded with a low percentage shot in the 17th minute that Austin keeper Brad Stuver easily stopped.
Marcinkowski made a sterling save on another shot by Ramirez in the 27th minute and then watched as Guilherme Biro’s shot from just inside the center of the box four minutes later flew over the crossbar and out of harm’s way.
Yoshida broke the scoreless deadlock in the 34th minute when he outjumped two Austin defenders to head home a corner kick from Marco Reus and into the bottom right corner of the net.
Yoshida tried to add to the Galaxy’s lead in the 40th minute but Stuver was steady and made the save on a shot from the center of the box.
LA controlled the rest of the half and the beginning the second half with the Verde offering up a tepid scoring chance on Joseph Rosales’ low percentage shot in the 56th minute. Edwin Cerrillo looked to expand the Galaxy’s lead with a scoring chance 10 minutes later that was turned away by Stuver.
Thommy all but put the match on ice when doubled the Galaxy’s advantage with a goal in the 78th minute. The scoring play started with a goal kick by Marcinkowski, who cleared the ball to Emiro Garces. Garces passed to Thommy as he sprinted down the left side of the pitch; Thommy carried the ball all the way into the box unmarked before bouncing a shot under Stuver and into the bottom right corner of the net.
Austin tried to get back into the match when Mikkel Desler tested Marcinkowski in the 82nd minute with a header that the LA keeper corralled.
Uzuni finally found the net for the Verde in the 85th minute, threading a shot over the Galaxy defense and into the top left corner after a corner kick by Biro that was headed out by Torres, giving Uzuni some space with which to work.

Nabi was the leading wicket taker in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season, taking 60 wickets in ten matches at an average of just 12.56.
The 29-year-old became only the third bowler in the tournament’s 92-year-history to take 60 or more wickets in a single Ranji season.
The speedster from Baramulla has the ability to swing the ball both ways and has a knack of picking wickets on batting friendly surfaces. The fast-bowler is also one of the front-runners to be the next cricketer to make their debut for India’s test side.

Winning on the road is special, but it is victories at home that set the template for a good season.
Lucknow Super Giants assistant coach Lance Klusener is well aware of his team’s poor record at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. The former South African all-rounder said they wanted to win for the fans who have come in large numbers to support the team.
“We come into this match with a lot of confidence after winning tough matches on the road. We would like to get off the mark at home and win it for the fans who have been supporting us,’’ he said.
Klusener credited the bowlers for his side’s away wins and said he wasn’t worried about the low returns from a few batter in the explosive batting lineup.
“We won the matches by chasing but I think the whole bowling unit has been outstanding. We have quite a few sleeping giants in our batting lineup. But they can wake up at the right time. It is a long competition and they will deliver,’’ he said.

The Dream also signed Allisha Gray, Brionna Jones, Naz Hillmon and Jordin Canada.
“This is a group that believes in Atlanta, believes in each other and is united in the pursuit of a championship,” Dream general manager Dan Padover said in a statement. “Allisha, Brionna, Jordin, Naz and Rhyne represent the standard we are building here in Atlanta; talented, unselfish and fully committed to winning. Said Dream coach Karl Smesko: “These players have established the standard for Atlanta Dream basketball. Their work ethic, competitiveness and belief in one another drive everything we do. We’re excited to continue building with this group.”
These signings come on the heels of Atlanta acquiring two-time All-Star Angel Reese from the Chicago Sky on Monday.

Their decision to continue building together, in this city and with each other, speaks to their belief in our vision and culture — one built to win, with great players and even better people.”
Howard, 25, averaged 17.5 points, 4.6 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game last season. She was the top overall pick of the 2022 WNBA Draft.
The Dream will open its season May 10 at the Minnesota Lynx.
