Arteta rules out Saka for Arsenal vs Manchester City clash

In a bid to build team chemistry, De Zerbi took his players out to dinner this week in London’s Mayfair. The Italian is happy to pick up the bill for more dinners in the coming weeks if he is rewarded with results on the field.

“The food was amazing and if we win, I am ready to pay every week for one dinner,” said the former Marseille coach.

“I am positive, I am ready to fight, and I believe in keeping Premier League (status). I believe in the words that I said last week. The focus is to win one game,” he added.

Rodrigo Bentancur could make his return from a three-month injury layoff against the Seagulls. However, first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario remains out after surgery on a hernia.

A compelling subplot, therefore, will be how Praful and Sakib fare against Chennai Super Kings’ middle order, particularly if they can force them to face the new ball. That said, the batting arsenal of the five-time champion carries enough firepower to shift gears quickly and recover even if early wickets fall.

CSK has hit a patch of form courtesy of two successive wins at home. It heads into Saturday’s encounter eyeing its first win on the road this season, but will have to do so with a depleted bowling attack. Its pace resources took another hit with Khaleel Ahmed being out for the season with a quadriceps injury after Nathan Ellis already missing out.

Historically, CSK has dominated this fixture 15-7, but the home side’s recent returns, particularly with the ball, allow a far more evenly poised contest this time around. In a clash where both sides carry firepower and flaws in equal measure, one passage of play, one moment of control, or one burst of brilliance could be enough to tilt the balance decisively.

Shubhankar Sharma wins inaugural edition of Boulders Classic after creating PGTI history

He also reflected on the broader growth of the sport in India since the start of his career.

“The skill level here has gone so far up. Also, the PGTI prize money fund is a lot more than it used to be. Thirty lakhs was the smallest amount back when I used to play here. Now, it’s one crore — almost 2.5 times! That is a big jump. It’s an Olympic sport, and the government is also taking some interest. There are only good things for this sport in the future.”

After lifting the winner’s trophy, he also encouraged young Indian golfers to aim higher and test themselves on bigger stages.

“I would just request all the players to push themselves as much as possible. Don’t settle for average. Don’t settle for just winning a tournament. Set higher bars for yourself. We have so many international players who play here now, but there’s a lot of depth outside,” he said.

“Push yourself, invest in yourself, and go abroad to play qualifiers. Don’t get comfortable here. Use the platform PGTI provides to get on the main European tour. Go abroad during the summer holidays when there are no tournaments here. Don’t save money and sit at home.”
