as the No. 1 pick into his first professional gig. He’s a great starting point, but the brass also knows this can’t be a one-man band. We’re giving the Raiders an A for now with the potential to slice their final score based on what other help they provide Mendoza in this draft.

New York Giants

The Picks: OLB Avrell Reese, Ohio State; OT Francis Mauigoa, Miami

Reese might prove to be the best value in the first round if the Micah Parsons comparisons are anywhere near on the mark. Mauigoa won’t need much time to endear himself to the Giants and quarterback Jaxson Dart. In the bigger picture, the Giants made massive improvements with these two moves and most of the interior defensive lineman on the team’s radar — none ready to replace Dexter Lawrence off the plane, of course — are still on the board.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Pick: DE Rueben Bain Jr., Miami

Dripping with Warren Sapp vibes, the modernized remake tale of Tampa catching a falling star in the draft could play out much the same way it did with the Hurricane-turned-Bucs Hall of Famer Sapp. Bain is an on-brand selection for GM Jason Licht, who has a stellar draft record and walked right into a no-brainer with Bain. Is he a perfect fit at any NFL position? Not exactly. If he walking into the NFL with a briefcase overflowing with elite-level college production and temperament that spells greatness? Yessir.

Seattle Seahawks

The Pick: RB Jadarian Price, Notre Dame

GM John Schneider entered the 2026 draft with some context flowing behind his Super Bowl championship cape: he needed a running back (Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III signed with the Chiefs in free agency); likely will have to add multiple cornerbacks; and has the reputation for embracing offers to trade down, an idea he brought up himself before the draft because the Seahawks had only four picks entering Thursday night. Well, something happened on the way to the Schneider kneeldown plan Thursday night.

In a pick we called with our final mock draft, Schneider sidled up to our No. 2-ranked running back, Notre Dame backup Jadarian Price, with Walker gone and Zach Charbonnet likely out for the first half of the 2026 season. Yes, there are other needs. But for added context, consider where Schneider has historically found starting-caliber cornerbacks. Josh Jobe is currently a starter.

He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent, was waived by the Eagles and signed to the Seattle practice squad before earning his keep. Nehemiah Pritchett is currently a backup drafted by the Seahawks in the fifth round in 2024. Richard Sherman is now a talking head, but he got his start with Seattle as a fifth-round pick in 2011. That same year (2011), Schneider brought in a CFL veteran — Brandon Browner — who spent three years with the Seahawks and won consecutive Super Bowls with Seattle and then the Patriots.

DFB Pokal: Stuttgart sails past Freiburg to set up German Cup final against Bayern

Nicolas Jackson pulled one back in the 53rd and Olise let fly with a brilliant strike inside the far post in the 73rd before Musiala equalized in the 81st.

Kane then scored the winner two minutes later from the rebound after Daniel Batz had saved Musiala’s effort.

Last-place Heidenheim staved off demotion with a 2-0 win over relegation rival St. Pauli. Budu Zivzivadze scored early and Eren Dinkçi late on to keep Heidenheim’s hopes of survival alive with three rounds remaining.

Second-last Wolfsburg was unable to capitalise on St. Pauli’s loss as it drew 0-0 at home with Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Cologne remains in danger after a 2-1 loss at home to Leverkusen in their Rhine derby. The win moved Leverkusen a point behind fourth-place Stuttgart before its game against visiting Werder Bremen on Sunday.

Also Saturday, Eintracht Frankfurt drew 1-1 at Augsburg.

Ayo Dosunmu produced 25 points on a night in which star Anthony Edwards had just 17 points.

NEW YORK KNICKS AT ATLANTA HAWKS

The Hawks have taken the series lead with back-to-back one-point wins and they can increase the pressure on New York with a Game 4 victory. Atlanta led by as many as 18 points in Game 3 but still needed CJ McCollum’s winning jumper to leave victorious. McCollum also stood out with 32 points in the Hawks’ Game 2 victory.

Atlanta has won 15 of its past 16 home games with the lone blemish coming against the Knicks on April 6. New York would surely like to even the series before going home and Jalen Brunson (27.7 average in the series) will be counted on to forget an 0-for-5 from 3-point range performance and show the form of the first two games when he made 7 of 14.

OG Anunbody stood out with 29 points and nine rebounds for the Knicks in Game 3 and a repeat showing would help New York’s chance. Meanwhile, Jalen Johnson is coming off a stellar performance for the Hawks with 24 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists and New York needs to clamp down on him and McCollum down the stretch.

DETROIT PISTONS AT ORLANDO MAGIC

The Pistons ceded homecourt advantage to Orlando with their Game 1 setback and now have their sights on returning serve. Detroit was much sharper with a 98-83 victory in Game 2, a contest it led by as many as 27 points.

Pistons star Cade Cunningham had 27 points and 11 assists in Game 2 after pouring in 39 points in the opener. Orlando has yet to show it can contain Cunningham so coach J.B. Bickerstaff knows exactly what to do – continually feed the ball to Cunningham until the Magic show some resistance.

Jalen Suggs (19 points) was Orlando’s leading scorer in Game 2 and that’s not a good thing when you have Paolo Banchero (18), Franz Wagner (12) and Desmond Bane (12) on the roster. Bane is just 9-of-31 shooting in the series and Orlando can’t win this series – or Game 3 – without Bane shooting significantly better.

But a Minnesota victory on Saturday would really make things interesting. That would give the Timberwolves a 3-1 lead and this version of the Nuggets doesn’t really look like the team that can dig out of such a hole.
