The good news: Menswear is settling into an exciting new groove after a wild twelve months. If you haven’t paid much attention to the topsy-turviness in the fashion industry over the last year, here’s the CliffsNotes version of the great fashion designer shake-up: Pretty much every major label in Europe and New York that you can name now has a new visionary at its helm. And those new designers have come into spring with something to prove. Couple that with a new sense of momentum at some of our favorite indie brands, and we could well be looking at a vintage year for menswear. What does that mean for you? Essentially: A load of really, really good clothes are landing this spring.
On the flip side, it also means there’s some filtering to do. Especially at this time of year, when everything seems to arrive in stores at exactly the same time. The sales are over, the weather’s brightening up, and there’s a lot, and we mean a lot of new stuff to consider. Amidst all the hype (and the near-constant product drops), it can be hard to know what’s truly worth getting excited about, and what’s a load of hot air.
That’s where we come in. Venturing over to menswear heavyweight Mr Porter, we delved into all the new season arrivals with surgical precision, pulling together a concise list of the investments our swagged-out grandkids will be thrilled we made.

The Light Wash Denim: Celine Kurt Straight-Leg Pressed Jeans
Every season throws up a couple of unexpected curveballs that, no matter how unlikely they might seem at first, go on to make a bizarre kind of sense. Let us paint a picture: at the designer Michael Rider’s first show for Celine last June, after his arrival from Polo Ralph Lauren, menswear commentators got into a fluster about these jeans, which are only now available for purchase. What makes them so special? A perfectly cut straight leg with the merest hint of a kick, and a faint crease line going down to the hem as though they’d accidentally made it into your mom’s ironing pile. Give it a couple of months, and these will be everywhere.
