There’s a reason the Little Black Dress (LBD) is the ultimate wardrobe essential and has been for generations — it can do everything, go anywhere, and always look perfectly chic and on trend. Just ask Alysa Liu, who put her signature spin on the classic dress for the 2026 iHeart Radio Music Awards.
The Olympic gold medalist (and Teen Vogue cover star!) slipped into a bold but simple LBD with a halter neckline that dipped into a cutout bodice with satin bra cups. The fitted silhouette fell into an asymmetrical pencil skirt cut at an angle, with the longest length hitting at her ankle. Instead of ice skates, Liu chose matching black pointed-toe pumps and skipped other accessories, save for her piercings. The dress feels very true to her personal style, with a little bit of edge thanks to the tie-inspired halter straps mixed with a pinup girl-style neckline.
In keeping with her minimalistic LBD, Liu’s glam details were simple but never boring. Her trademark halo hair was a key element of the look, styled straight with body and a subtle bend at the ends. A soft smoky eye and coordinating peach blush and lip gloss finished off her awards show look, paired with a short black manicure to match the dress.
Since taking home the gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, Liu has attended several big red carpet events, including the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, where she wore an embellished Louis Vuitton mini dress with black tights and pumps. But before that, the athlete also popped up at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar party in a sleek, stylish take on a tuxedo, her halo hair styled in waves. We love watching Liu on the ice, and we also love seeing her become a style star in her own right.
