FIDE Chess Candidates 2026 Standings: Praggnanandhaa in joint-lead in open section after Round 2

India’s R Praggnanandhaa continued in joint-lead in the open section of FIDE Candidates 2026 after the second round on Monday.

Praggnanandhaa played an evenly matched draw against Chinese GM Wei Yei in Round 2 to move to 1.5 points.

The Indian GM shares the lead with USA’s Fabiano Caruana and Uzbekistan’s Javokhir Sindarov.

In the women’s section, no player is yet to claim a decisive result after two rounds, meaning all eight players are dead level on one point each. India’s R Vaishali and Divya Deshmukh had settled for a draw in the second round.
