The Los Angeles Angels recalled left-hander Sam Aldegheri from Triple-A Salt Lake and optioned left-hander Mitch Farris in advance of Tuesday’s road game against the New York Yankees.

The Angels do not have a starting pitcher listed for games at New York on Wednesday and Thursday. Left-hander Reid Detmers is scheduled to start against the Yankees on Tuesday.


Aldegheri, 24, had a solid run with Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic, going 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in two starts (six innings). But he is 0-2 with a 10.80 ERA at Salt Lake in three starts since.

In seven appearances (five starts) for the Angels over the previous two seasons, Aldegheri is 1-4 with a 6.41 ERA.

Philadelphia will host its first UFC event in 15 years when UFC 330 is held at Xfinity Mobile Arena on Aug. 15, UFC president and CEO Dana White and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro announced Tuesday.

It will be UFC’s first trip to Philadelphia since the same venue hosted UFC 133 on August 6, 2011.


The fight card is set to be announced soon, UFC said in a press release.

“Pennsylvania is thrilled to host UFC 330 in Philadelphia, the first time a championship bout is coming back to the Commonwealth in fifteen years,” Shapiro said. “This is a huge year for Pennsylvania — all eyes are on the Commonwealth as we celebrate America 250 and host some of the biggest sporting events in the world in the place where it all started. From UFC and March Madness to the FIFA World Cup and the NFL Draft, we’re excited to host world class sporting events that will bring with them incredible opportunities for our businesses, our communities, and our fans.
