The Aramco Championship boasted one of the more impressive fields in recent LPGA Tour history. As Commissioner Craig Kessler noted during the week that preceded it, the event featured all 20 players in the ROLEX Women’s World Golf Rankings… a first since 2017 for LPGA Tour events specifically (so excluding majors and the CME Group Tour Championship).
Lauren Coughlin outlasted them all and proved yet again what an incredible player she is. Coughlin is a true golf grinder, someone who has worked and worked hard for everything she has, and her game at Shadow Creek was a huge sign of that.
Recently Coughlin joined SB Nation and discussed the type of confidence that she carries to be able to hang with the best in the world. The short version is… because she knows she is one of them, too.
“Yeah, I would definitely say that I definitely never want to be seen as someone who’s cocky and so I’m not someone who’s going to really boast about what I feel. But at the same time I do think I’m pretty confident just because I’ve been able to play with everybody now at this point and I see what they do and it’s not… again I don’t want to sound cocky… but it’s like… I watch Nelly [Korda] and Jeeno [Thitikul] and I’m like, yea, obviously they’re the best players in the world, but it’s not like I see them and there’s nothing that they do that I don’t feel like I am not capable of doing.”
“I’m not saying I am as good as them or that I’m better than them, but it’s not like I look at them and I’m like I don’t think I can’t get to that now. Will I get to that? I don’t know. But it doesn’t seem unattainable if that makes sense.”
Lauren’s game is built for all opportunities and that she has a foundation of confidence married with humility underneath it is something that is going to carry her very far.
Another point of foundation that Lauren has behind her is Keswick Hall. Located in Virginia Wine Country, Lauren has spent many a session perfecting her craft on property. She noted how important it is to have that place of center and that all of the amenities it provides have helped aid her success.
Keswick Hall is conveniently situated just a two-hour drive from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. It is located a little over three hours from Baltimore and approximately 3.5 hours from Raleigh, North Carolina. The Charlottesville Albemarle Airport (CHO) is just 30 minutes away, while Richmond International Airport (RIC) can be reached in about 60 minutes.
This season is already off to a great start for Lauren, but it will be interesting to see how the rest of it unfolds.

Louis Crevier scored two third-period goals, and the Chicago Blackhawks scored five straight to rally for a 5-2 win against the visiting San Jose Sharks in their season finale on Wednesday night.
Sam Rinzel, Ryan Greene, and Nick Lardis also scored, Connor Bedard had two assists, and Spencer Knight made 15 saves for the Blackhawks (29-39-14, 72 points), who had lost four in a row and nine of 10.
Mario Ferraro and Michael Misa scored, Kiefer Sherwood had two assists, and Yaroslav Askarov made 19 saves and turned away a penalty shot for the Sharks (38-35-8, 84 points), who have lost four of five.
Crevier scored off a backhand cross-ice pass from Bedard to tie it 2-2 at 3:51 of the third.
Greene scored backdoor off a feed from Ethan Del Mastro to give the Blackhawks a 3-2 lead at 8:35.
Crevier scored again with a slap shot from just inside the blue line to make it 4-2 at 10:32.
Bedard got another assist with a backhand pass to Lardis for a one-timer that made it 5-2 at 14:44.
Knight appeared to make the initial save on a shot by Ferraro, but the rebound went off the skate of Del Mastro and across the goal line to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead at 8:09 of the first period.
After Askarov stopped Ilya Mikheyev on a penalty shot with 3:38 left in the first period, the Sharks thought they extended the lead to 2-0 on a goal by Tyler Toffoli early in the second period, but Chicago challenged for offsides and the goal was waived off following a video review.
The Sharks scored at 5:17 of the second when Misa tried to pass the puck to the front of the crease from the side of the net, but it went off the stick blade of Del Mastro, off his arm, and between the pads of Knight to make it 2-0.
Chicago started the comeback when Askarov gave up a bad goal with 30 seconds left in the second period.
Rinzel took a sharp-angle shot from just above the goal line and the puck slipped through his pads to cut it to 2-1.
The Sharks conclude their season on Thursday at the Winnipeg Jets.

Guillermo Hoyos said his long friendship with Lionel Messi will not stop him working the Argentine superstar hard in training, as he was unveiled as the new coach of MLS side Inter Miami on Wednesday.
Hoyos, previously Miami’s sporting director, replaced Javier Mascherano, who departed the club for ‘personal reasons’ on Tuesday just four months after guiding the club to its first MLS Cup title.
The 62-year-old Hoyos was a key former mentor of Messi with Barcelona’s youth team more than two decades ago, and the Argentine pair have remained close ever since.
“Friendship is non-negotiable. We share a friendship that spans many years,” said Hoyos, speaking in Spanish, at his first press conference.
“However, that friendship does not mean that we will be constantly hovering over him or in his face every single day.”
A club statement initially said Hoyos will take charge of the team for the “upcoming matches,” but the team has since referred to him as head coach in social media posts.
Club sources told AFP that Hoyos is expected to remain at the helm only until the middle of the year, with a new coaching setup in place by the start of the Leagues Cup in August.
After seven rounds this season, Inter Miami sit third in the MLS Eastern Conference.

Paulinho, building on his hat trick in the first leg of a CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinal series, added two goals in the second leg on Wednesday, leading Toluca FC to a 3-0 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy in Carson, Calif.
Toluca prevailed 7-2 on aggregate, earning a spot in the semifinals against Los Angeles FC.
Up 4-2 following the opening leg last week in Mexico, Toluca expanded the edge in the 10th minute on Wednesday when Jesus Gallardo blasted a 20-yard, left-footed shot past Galaxy goalie JT Marcinkowski.
In the 58th minute, Helinho slipped in a pass to an unmarked Paulinho, who entered the 18-yard box, and Paulinho rolled a left-footed shot inside the far post.
Paulinho’s second goal of the night was a deft chip over Marcinkowski as he entered the penalty area on his own on a counterattack.
The last quarterfinal series will conclude later Wednesday night when the Seattle Sounders play host to Tigres UANL, who were up 2-0 following the first leg.
