On Wednesday night in Philadelphia, PA, Thomas Jefferson University hosted its annual Student Design Fashion Show. The sold-out event spotlighted the capstone collections of 27 senior designers.

“We are so proud of our senior designers, not only for the amazing styles they showcased this evening, but because of their embrace of sustainability, inclusivity and empowerment,” said Thomas Jefferson University President Dr. Susan Aldridge, in a press statement.

Program Director Carly Kusy added, “Fashion is more than pretty dresses. It is about voice, perspective, and the courage to say something meaningful. Our industry needs that conviction. We are at a pivotal point, and it needs new voices willing to question, challenge and reimagine what fashion can be — more inclusive, more responsible and more reflective of the diverse world it serves.”

Each designer leaned into their own niche, with collections ranging from streetwear to eveningwear to bridal to athleticwear. Plenty of eye-catching details were on display down the runway, including colorful patchwork, lots of corsetry and cutouts.

The evening also included honoring alumna Madison Chamberlain with the annual Spirit of Design Award. The Class of 2017 graduate established a nontraditional bridal design company known for its colorful wedding dresses and statement veils.
