Simi Valley, Calif. – In a horrifying scene straight out of a nightmare, a 34-year-old man with a fresh rap sheet walked into a packed Target store Wednesday evening and immediately launched a savage, unprovoked attack on a random female shopper, choking her at the checkout line before turning his fury on anyone who tried to stop him.

Cellphone video captured the chaos as Rejean Tabor allegedly zeroed in on his victim moments after entering the store at 51 Tierra Rejada Road around 6 p.m. on June 17, 2026. Witnesses said he had no connection to the woman, who was simply minding her own business in line.

“He was choking her, she was almost dead,” one horrified shopper can be heard saying in the footage as bystanders, including a father and son, heroically jumped in to pull the attacker off the struggling victim. Tabor fought back violently, shoving women to the ground and battling multiple good Samaritans, including a teenager, as terrified employees scrambled to evacuate the store.

The disturbing video shows the suspect thrashing wildly in the clothing and grocery sections, hurling merchandise while law enforcement raced to the scene. Simi Valley Police Department officers quickly located and detained Tabor without further incident. The initial victim was rushed to the hospital by family members and is reported to be in stable condition. Several others suffered minor injuries.

Adding outrage to the horror, authorities confirmed Tabor had just been released from custody days earlier. He was previously arrested in March on charges including indecent exposure and assaulting an officer.

Tabor now faces serious felony charges, including attempted murder, burglary, assault, battery, and cruelty or unjustifiable pain to a minor. He was booked into Ventura County Main Jail.

This brazen daylight attack has rocked the normally quiet Simi Valley community, once known for its safety and family-friendly vibe.
