Many of the original X-Men actors have returned to reprise their roles in Avengers: Doomsday, but not Famke Janssen, who thinks Marvel is making a big mistake.
Famke Janssen on Avengers: Doomsday
Although Janssen has said that she won’t be appearing in Doomsday, some believe she’s simply trying to keep her return under wraps. During a recent conversation with Nerdtropolis at Spacecon 2026, she was asked how good she is at lying.
“I am so bad at keeping secrets that I always say to everyone I’m the worst actor in the world. It’s all on my face. You right away will read it,” Janssen said. “I think they made a mistake, but hey, who am I? I’m just a little me who thinks that.“
Janssen played Jean Grey in the very first X-Men movie, and returned for X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand. She also made brief appearances in The Wolverine and X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Doomsday features an absolutely stacked cast, and it’s possible there just simply wasn’t room for Janssen, but her absence is hard to ignore considering the film does feature many of her co-stars, including Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique.
What About Chris Claremont?
Despite Janssen’s claim that she isn’t coming back, legendary X-Men writer Chris Claremont has said that she is. While speaking on a podcast earlier this year, Claremont said, “The thing I find most wonderful about it is they’re bringing back the original cast, including Famke.” Notice how he specifically singled her out.
Now, Claremont has previously made claims about Doomsday, some of which have turned out to be true, but we’re taking this with a grain of salt for now.
The Cast of Avengers: Doomsday
In addition to the X-Men actors I’ve already mentioned, the cast of Avengers: Doomsday includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, Simi Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Lewis Pullman as Bob, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Channing Tatum as Remy LeBeau, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, and Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom.
Doomsday will hit theaters on December 18.
