“I’d be careful if I were you… He doesn’t even know who you are.” Prime Video has unveiled the full official trailer for a tricky new streaming series titled The Girlfriend, a 6-episode family drama / thriller based on the bestselling novel of the same name. Ready for streaming in September after the summer wraps up. “A mother. A son. His girlfriend. And the lie they’ll wish had never been told.” Laura’s idyllic life with a perfect husband & son is shattered when her son’s new girlfriend seems suspicious. Who is she really? Determined to protect Daniel, Laura’s actions spiral out of control, raising the question: Is she justifiably cautious or consumed by paranoia? “The truth is a matter of perspective.” The series features Robin Wright as Laura, Olivia Cooke as Cherry, Laurie Davidson as Daniel, Waleed Zuaiter as Howard, Tayna Moodie as Isabella, Shalom Brune-Franklin as Brigitte, Karen Henthorn as Tracey, Anna Chancellor as Lilith, Leo Suter as Nicholas, as well as Francesca Corney as Millie. Based on Michelle Frances’ novel, The Girlfriend follows Laura (Robin Wright), a woman who seemingly has it all: a glittering career, a loving husband, and her precious son, Daniel. Her perfect life unravels when Daniel brings home Cherry (Olivia Cooke), a new girlfriend who changes everything. After a tense introduction, Laura becomes convinced Cherry is hiding something.
