Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell are stepping into old chapters of their lives in the trailer for A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.
The preview for the upcoming movie sees Robbie star as Sarah and Colin Farrell as David meet and go on an adventure that could change their future over the backdrop of Gracie Abrams’ song “I miss you, I’m sorry” playing.
“What if you could open a doorway and walk through it to re-live a defining moment from your past? Sarah and David are single strangers who meet at a mutual friend’s wedding and soon, through a surprising twist of fate, find themselves on A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” reads the official synopsis. “A funny, fantastical, sweeping adventure together where they get to re-live important moments from their respective pasts, illuminating how they got to where they are in the present … and possibly getting a chance to alter their futures.”
As the trailer sees Farrell’s David feeling like their journey is real, toward the end, Robbie says to Farrell “So, what is it that you want, David?,” to which Farrell responds saying, “I want to go back to when I thought everything would work out for me.”
At CinemaCon in March, the director Kogonada said Robbie and Farrell are “two extraordinary stars at the peak of their craft” and that “they light up the screen together.”
The project is Robbie’s first role since Barbie, which was the highest grossing movie of 2023, making more than $1.4 billion worldwide. It’s also the first for Farrell following his role as Penguin in the HBO show, The Penguin, that won him a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award.
The film is written by Seth Reiss and produced by Bradley Thomas, Ryan Friedkin, Reiss and Youree Henley. Kogonada, Ilene Feldman, Gino Falsetto, Ori Eisen, Paul Mezey, Micah Green, Dan Steinman and John Atwood all serve as executive producers.
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey releases from Sony in theaters Sept. 19.
