Tyrod Taylor start or sit: Week 3 fantasy football advice

Week 3 of the 2025 NFL season is upon us and the action will continue on Sunday with the New York Jets visiting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.

The Jets were torched by the Bills in a 30-10 loss last week and to add insult to injury, starting quarterback Justin Fields was knocked out of the fourth quarter with a concussion. Veteran backup Tyrod Taylor filled in for the rest of the game and will lead the team in Sunday’s road showdown.

Below, we’ll go over Taylor’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 3.

Fantasy Football analysis: Jets QB Tyrod Taylor

Taylor went 7-11 for 56 yards and a touchdown in garbage time of last week’s loss, adding an additional 21 yards on the ground. The Jets were already trailing 30-3 when he stepped into the game and he probably would’ve been sent out even if Fields didn’t suffer a concussion in the fourth quarter.

This will be Taylor’s first start since 2023 with the New York Giants, where he split time with Tommy DeVito in place of an injured Daniel Jones. He’s rostered in less than 2% of fantasy leagues, so he should be readily available for anyone interested.

Sit. Fields managers should already have an alternate option on their rosters and actual starters like Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers should still be available on the waiver wire. But if you do decide to stream Taylor for just one week, it wouldn’t be the worst idea. The Buccaneers have given up 505 passing yards on 7.65 yards per attempt through two games, ranking in the bottom 10 in both categories. Combine the veteran backup’s ability to scramble around a little bit and he could be a thorn in the side of the reigning NFC South champs.

Again, better options are available for managers in a bind at QB, but a one-week flyer on Taylor wouldn’t be the worst decision in the world.
