KJ Apa is Iconic Actor James Stewart in ‘Jimmy’ Movie Teaser Trailer

“How does it feel to be a legend, James?” “It’s the best feeling in the world!” Burns & Co. has revealed the teaser trailer for a movie called Jimmy, a very peculiar biopic look at the beloved actor James Stewart – aka Jimmy Stewart – and his early years as a pilot during World War II before going on to make It’s a Wonderful Life (in 1946). The pitch: it’s the untold story of America’s most-beloved actor and the iconic role that saved him. KJ Apa stars as Jimmy Stewart, with a cast including Max Casella as Frank Capra, Kara Killmer as Lady Julia, Julian Works, Sarah Drew, Jason Alexander as Louis B. Mayer of MGM, Rob Riggle, and Daniel Fee. Quite an interesting cast. “Jimmy Stewart was an American Hero. He was among a certain breed of men who understood the true meaning of sacrifice by fighting for our freedom,” KJ Apa states. Okay but why do we need this kind of biopic about him? This seems like a strange film that is rather jingoistic – as if he’s only a “good man” because he fought in the war. Huh… At least Apa got the voice right.

“Based on the untold true story…” This new film brings to the big screen the most transformative years of iconic actor Jimmy Stewart’s life—from winning the Academy Award for Best Actor in The Philadelphia Story to enlisting & becoming a combat pilot & commander in the U.S. Army Air Corps at the beginning of World War II. Stewart flew 20 missions over Europe, rising to the rank of colonel, only to return home broken and disheartened. And then George Bailey came calling. Jimmy is directed by producer / filmmaker Aaron Burns, director of only the films Legacy Peak and Birthright Outlaw previously. The screenplay is written by Justin Strawhand (also of War Against the Weak). Produced by Aaron Burns, David C. Cook, Angela Galgani Sullivan, John Norton, Justin Strawhand. Burns & Co. / RedTed Media are aiming to release Burns’ Jimmy movie in select US theaters starting November 6th, 2026 next year. Is anyone interested?
