Abbott Elementary Season 5 is now in full swing.

The ABC series has been on the air since December 2021, and it’s quickly become a fan-favorite.

As we enter into 2026, some fans are wondering about the fate of their favorite series, including Abbott. Will the show be getting a sixth season?

As of right now, Abbott Elementary has not been officially renewed for Season 6 or cancelled at ABC.

Renewal announcements typically don’t come until a little later in the month and/or season. (Season 5 was announced on January 21 last year, for instance.)

Creator and star Quinta Brunson has admitted that the show’s run may be ending soon.

“I have cast members who would love to pursue other projects, and our show is very time-consuming. We shoot about seven months out of the year. That can stop people from being able to do a lot of other things,” she told Bustle last year.

One year prior, she said to Elle: “When I first started, I was like, ‘Yeah, 10 seasons.’ Now I’m like, ‘We’ll see about that.’ That would be a blessing. But also, this is a lot of work. I want to make sure, no matter what, I get to worry not about the numbers or the money, but what kind of story we are telling and feeling when it’s time for the story to come to a close.”
