“There’s nothing in the world that’s going to keep us from getting to you.” Angel Studios has revealed the first look teaser trailer for the movie Runner, an action thriller set in Australia. This plays more like a full-on trailer introducing the premise with a glimpse at some of the intense non-stop action. A former soldier is thrown into a race against time as a medical delivery makes him the prime target of a ruthless cartel. Set in Australia, a high-end courier has three hours to transport a liver from Brisbane to the Gold Coast. He comes under attack and will do anything to make sure it’s delivered safely to a young girl. The “buddy comedy” duo stars Alan Ritchson (last seen in War Machine) as Hank Malone and Owen Wilson as Ben Bishop. The full cast also includes Rodrigo Santoro, Leila George, Adriana Barraza, Sullivan Stapleton, Peta Sergeant, Geraldine Hakewill, and Goran D. Kleut. This looks ridiculous! Action inspired by Michael Bay’s Ambulance mixed with the cheesy plot about an organ transplant. So dumb yet somehow entertaining.

Here’s the first teaser trailer for Scott Waugh’s action movie Runner, direct from Angel’s YouTube:

“What an amazing team this was! The goal for me is to try to beat every idea with a better one. Constantly. Relentlessly. Always hoping, dreaming, searching, struggling for something… anything… that’s just a little bit better. Some shot, some angle, some line, some sound, something that makes a moment magic. That ethos was shared by everyone here and we seemed to find magic under every stone. Can’t wait for you to see this story unfold. It’s gonna be a good one.” –Alan Ritchson via Instagram

A former soldier is thrown into a brutal race against time when a critical medical delivery makes him the target of a ruthless cartel. With betrayal closing in from every side, he must survive the chase and deliver his cargo before an innocent child runs out of time. Runner is directed by American action filmmaker Scott Waugh, director of the movies Act of Valor, Need for Speed, 6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain, Hidden Strike, and The Expendables 4 previously. The screenplay is written by Miles Hubley & Tommy White. It’s produced by Mark Fasano, Todd Garner, Deborah Glover, Jeffrey Greenstein, and Alan Ritchson. This was filmed on location in Australia last year (you can read Ritchson’s wrap post here). Angel Studios releases Waugh’s Runner movie in US theaters starting on September 11th, 2026 later this year. Look any good?
