It’s honestly kind of wild that Monarch: Legacy of Monsters still gets talked about like some under-the-radar side dish to the MonsterVerse movies when the show has become a real streaming force in its own right. Apple TV’s sci-fi thriller has been quietly putting up serious chart numbers again, and right now it’s one of the platform’s biggest TV draws anywhere in the world. For a franchise spin-off that could’ve easily just coasted on brand recognition, Monarch has done a pretty good job of proving it is its own thing.
According to FlixPatrol, the series is currently No. 2 on Apple TV’s worldwide TV chart, right behind Your Friends & Neighbors. Its title page also shows just how strong the recent run has been, with Monarch posting 13,324 Apple TV points this month and ranking No. 1 across its broader current cycle.
That tracks with the momentum around Season 2, which premiered on February 27, 2026, and is still rolling out weekly. The show has kept the MonsterVerse scale, but it also leans into the family drama, conspiracy plotting, and timeline-hopping weirdness that make it more than just a Godzilla-adjacent side quest. At this point, “underrated” might not even be the right word anymore. If a series is this high on Apple’s global charts, the secret is fully out.
What Is Season 2 of ‘Monarch’ About?
The Season 2 synopsis is as follows:
“Season 2 will pick up with the fate of Monarch — and the world — hanging in the balance. The dramatic saga reveals buried secrets that reunite our heroes (and villains) on Kong’s Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea. The ripple effects of the past make waves in the present day, blurring the bonds between family, friend and foe — all with the threat of a Titan event on the horizon.”
The series continues to be produced by Legendary Television, with showrunner Chris Black leading Season 2. Executive producers include Matt Shakman, Joby Harold, and others, with Toho Co., Ltd. — the home of Godzilla — also involved. And Apple isn’t stopping here. More MonsterVerse shows are in development, including a Young Lee Shaw prequel with Wyatt Russell set to reprise his role.
