The Batman: Arkham trilogy has withstood the test of time. Although there are complaints about any given game, those three are still highly regarded in the open world gaming space, especially compared to WB’s work following the trilogy.
The Arkham series is kind of in disarray right now following the release of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, and Gotham Knights (which is not connected) didn’t set the Gotham City bridge on fire. So it’s a good thing that the main trilogy still mostly holds up, and if you’ve been holding off on playing the final conclusion, you’ll want to dive in now.
Over on the PSN, Batman fans are grabbing Batman: Arkham Knight for basically free, but the deal ends very soon.
Right now, you can grab Batman: Arkham Knight on the PSN for $4.99, which is a fantastic deal. If you haven’t played Arkham Knight, it’s an incredibly ambitious game that lets you explore Gotham City as you try to take down the Scarecrow, and a unique version of the Red Hood.
The main twist on the Arkham formula is the Batmobile, which can be used to traverse the city, and is incorporated into the campaign in many cases. This is the main sticking point for folks who bounced off of Arkham Knight, but the Batmobile portions are mainly light compared to the traditional Arkham exploration and combat systems.
If you’re a fan of the game, you can pick up the Red Hood/Harley Quinn/A Matter of Family content packs, as well as several optional skins, or a season pass. The Premium Edition of Arkham Knight is also on sale for this event, as is the Batman: Arkham Collection, which includes access to the previous two main iterations (Arkham Asylum and Arkham City).
Funnily enough, multiple eras of Batman are present throughout Arkham Knight via skins. You can drive the 1989 Tim Burton Batmobile, the 2008 Tumbler Christopher Nolan edition, and the classic Adam West car. The Bat-Family skin pack also features old-school costumes.
Over the years, Rocksteady and WB have added tons more costumes into the mix for Batman, so there are lots of customization options available. The PlayStation edition even has a set of exclusive Scarecrow Nightmare [Challenge] Missions.
In other words, Arkham Knight has a ton of content in the base game alone, and even more with the DLC. Now is a great time to start this trilogy, and you can even try out Batman: Arkham Origins to round things out.
