Beckham Family’s Drama Through the Years: Feuds, Rumored Affair and More

David and Victoria Beckham’s family has had its fair share of good times and low points.

The couple tied the knot in 1999, the same year they welcomed their first son, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham. David and Victoria expanded their family with sons Romeo and Cruz and daughter Harper in 2002, 2005 and 2011, respectively. In 2022, David and Victoria’s family gained a daughter-in-law when Brooklyn tied the knot with Nicola Peltz Beckham.

While David and Victoria have appeared to have a picture-perfect relationship and family, they’ve navigated a series of ups and downs, including rumors of an affair and feuds among their brood.

The Beckham feud has reached a standstill. Brooklyn Beckham and his wife, Nicola Peltz, are not concerned with piecing his family back together — at least not yet, a source exclusively tells Us Weekly. “Brooklyn has no interest in mending things at this time,” the insider shares. “He’s really focused on living a peaceful, drama-free […]

David Beckham’s Affair Rumors

In 2004, David and Victoria’s marriage hit a rough patch after rumors swirled that the former soccer player had an affair. His former assistant Rebecca Loos claimed that she and David hooked up during his marriage to the Spice Girls singer. David has denied the allegations multiple times over the years. Victoria later shared that navigating the drama was the “hardest period” of their relationship.

“Sometimes it felt like us against everybody else, but we were together, we were connected, we had each other. But when we were in Spain, it didn’t really feel like we had each other either. And that’s sad,” Victoria recalled in David’s 2024 Netflix documentary. “I can’t even begin to tell you how hard it was and how it affected me. It was an absolute circus — and everyone loves it when the circus comes to town, right? Unless you’re in it.”

David added that navigating the moment took an emotional toll on him and his family.

“I think we both felt at the time that we were not losing each other, but growing. I don’t know how we got through it, in all honesty,” he said in the doc. “Victoria is everything to me, to see her hurt was incredibly difficult, but we’re fighters. And at that time, we needed to fight for each other, we needed to fight for our family. And what we had was worth fighting for. But ultimately, it is our private life.”

Before Nicola and Brooklyn wed, the actress and Victoria seemingly had a close bond. However, rumors later circulated that the women were at odds over an incident with Nicola’s wedding gown. Nicola originally planned on wearing a dress designed by her mother-in-law, but she ended up donning a Valentino gown instead for her 2022 nuptials.

In October 2022, Nicola denied there was ever a “feud” between her and Victoria.

“I think it all started, and I’ve said this before, because I didn’t end up wearing Victoria’s wedding dress,” Nicola said in an interview with The Times. “But the real truth is, I really, really wanted to wear it and I thought it was so beautiful that Brooklyn’s mom got to make that for me! And I was really excited to wear it! And I didn’t end up wearing it. Truthfully, I was really excited to wear her dress. It makes me sad when I read things that people say I was never planning on wearing it. That’s just not true.”

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham’s Social Media Drama With His Brothers

The brothers sparked speculation of a feud after David posted a family photo of the group from his 50th birthday celebration. Romeo and Cruz were each joined by their respective girlfriends, Kim Turnbull and Jackie Apostel, while Brooklyn and Nicola were noticeably absent from the event.

“So I thought I’d start celebrating slightly early, such a special night in Miami,” David wrote via Instagram in March 2025. “So lucky to have amazing friends and family to start the 50th celebrations with. Love you.”

Romeo reshared the photo on his social media page, captioning the post, “Family is everything. Love you all.”

While it is unknown whether Romeo’s message was meant to be a dig at his older brother, TMZ reported in April 2025 that the duo were not on speaking terms.

Two months later, Cruz seemingly took his own jab at Brooklyn. A TikTok user trolled Cruz for playing guitar, commenting on his video, “Are you going to stick with this job or going to become a race car driver next or something?” Cruz replied, “Wrong brother mate” in an apparent nod to Brooklyn’s many career aspirations, from photography to cooking.

The social media back-and-forth ended that summer, with Brooklyn claiming his brothers had blocked him “out of nowhere.” After fans noticed in December 2025 that David and Victoria were no longer following Brooklyn either, Cruz posted, “They woke up blocked … as did I.”

Speculation of a rift between Brooklyn and the rest of his family spread after he and Nicole skipped David’s 50th birthday parties in March and May 2025. Shortly after the second celebration, a source exclusively told Us that Brooklyn requested his wife receive “special treatment” from his relatives, resulting in their birthday party absences.

“David and Victoria are over it,” the insider stated. “They’ve thrown in the towel over the whole thing.”

According to the source, Brooklyn and Nicole requested a “separate meetup” with David for his birthday, which was turned down. “David and Victoria just want to treat everyone the same and approach life like a family and the family does things a certain way,” the insider added. “But Brooklyn isn’t playing it like that, and everything is a drama. … They just tell the whole family there’s a party, ‘Here’s the time, here’s the date.’ It’s not that complicated. Everyone else seems OK with it.”

Timeline of Victoria Beckham and Daughter in Law Nicola Peltz Drama

Victoria Beckham’s relationship with daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz Beckham has been under a microscope ever since the actress married Brooklyn Peltz Beckham in 2022. Brooklyn proposed to Nicola in July 2020, and they got married two years later. Speculation soon swirled around his mother and wife’s relationship after news broke that Nicola wore a Valentino gown […]

A second source later told Us that the drama stems from Victoria and Nicola’s rumored past drama. “Things never really got smoothed over, and you can tell it still affects everyone,” the insider explained. “The tension is still present, and it’s hard for Brooklyn at times. Brooklyn’s having a tough time with it. He’s super stubborn and just wants space from his family right now.”

David and Victoria, meanwhile, felt “betrayed” by the strain between themselves and Brooklyn. “Victoria and David haven’t called, texted or messaged Brooklyn directly since the birthday party,” a third source told Us in May 2025. “Friends and people around them see a long road to mending this. But there is a desire to mend on David and Victoria’s part.”

The third source went on to note that Brooklyn’s “healthy relationship” with Nicola has allegedly made him “question his own family and upbringing.” They continued, “Nicola and Brooklyn have a mutual desire for Brooklyn to explore his interests and grow as a person. That is what is causing the family rift.”

Us broke the news in August 2025 that Brooklyn and Nicola had renewed their vows — without David and Victoria in attendance. That October, a source shared that Brooklyn was “focused on living a peaceful, drama-free life with Nicola” and had “no interest in mending things” with his family.

Brooklyn confirmed as much in January 2026, when he issued a scathing, multi-slide statement via his Instagram Story, writing in part, “I do not want to reconcile with my family.”

Brooklyn went on to claim that his parents “have been trying endlessly to ruin” his relationship with Nicola. “My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song,” he wrote. “In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead. She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. l’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.”

Brooklyn also shared that he and Nicola had traveled to London for David’s 50th birthday, but the former athlete allegedly only agreed to see his son “under the condition that Nicola wasn’t invited.”

“The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards,” he added. “I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life.”

Victoria Beckham Addresses Distant Relationship With Brooklyn Beckham

Nearly three months after Brooklyn Beckham publicly confirmed a rift with his immediate family members, Victoria Beckham addressed the situation for the first time.

“I think that we’ve always — we love our children so much,” she told The Wall Street Journal in a profile published on April 16, 2026. “We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.”

Victoria added that her and David Beckham are “trying to do the best we can” when it comes to raising their kids.
