Blake Lively Accuses Justin Baldoni of 'Abandoning' His Message of Supporting Women as 19 Organizations Speak Out Against His Lawsuit

Blake Lively is accusing Justin Baldoni of “contradicting years of his own public persona” by abandoning his message of supporting women.

While on the promo campaign for their movie It Ends With Us, Justin spoke extensively about supporting women and he partnered with the organization NO MORE before the film’s release. NO MORE’s mission is to unite and strengthen a diverse, global community to help end domestic violence, sexual assault and abuse.

Justin said at the time, “It’s easy to ask, especially as men, ‘Why do women stay?’ But the real question we need to ask is, ‘Why do men harm?’ This was not an easy story to tell, and yet it was profoundly important. I’ve learned so much. We are so grateful for all the support and the partnership with my friends and the charitable partner to this film, @nomoreorg.”

Now, Blake claims that Justin‘s lawsuit against her is the opposite of supporting women and she has 19 organizations backing her up.

The latest comments from Blake‘s team come two days after the judge made a ruling their case.

Blake‘s team said in a new comment, “Two additional amicus briefs were filed bringing the total to four briefs being supported by 19 different leading organizations. Sadly, the Baldoni legal team challenged the amici briefs and stated that these courageous women and women’s rights organizations should not have their voices heard.”

Blake’s spokesperson released the following statement: “19 leading survivors and organizations devoted to women’s rights, children’s rights and domestic violence have now signed onto four separate amicus briefs. All are united in opposing Justin Baldoni’s attempt to dismantle a law designed to protect women who speak up—simply to protect himself. The latest briefs, filed by Child USA and Sanctuary for Families, add the voices of renowned nonprofits, victim advocates, and experts from around the world who are dedicated to safeguarding the rights and well-being of people who speak up. Rather than defend his case on the facts, Baldoni is now contradicting years of his own public persona—abandoning the message of his #MeToo YouTube’s, podcasts, TED Talks, and interviews, where he once upon a time urged men ‘to listen to the women in your life…to hold their anguish and actually believe them, even if what they’re saying is against you.’ These women and organizations are sounding the alarm about his DARVO tactics, and the chilling effect they could have well beyond this case.”

Below is a full list of all organizations who have signed on to each amicus brief and snippet from each:

Page 1: The retaliatory defamation lawsuit instigated by the Wayfarer Parties against Blake Lively is another example of “DARVO” tactics (Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender) in the post- #MeToo era where perpetrators of “sexual violence,” in particular sexual harassment, attempt to silence their victims into submission. Perpetrators use defamation suits to deny their own liability, discredit survivors of sexual violence, and reverse the narrative to cast themselves as the real victims. This smear tactic comes at a real cost to victims who muster the enormous courage required to report their abusers in the first instance. If the use of DARVO tactics in defamation lawsuits is allowed to continue unchecked, embroiling victims in costly and drawn-out litigation proceedings that force them to relive their trauma, it will embolden perpetrators and contribute to a culture of silence. This will impact survivors from all socioeconomic backgrounds, including those with the least means to defend themselves as well as the most high-powered celebrities.

Page 14: Invalidating these provisions based on Mr. Baldoni’s and the Wayfarer Parties’ expansion of the Noerr-Pennington doctrine would dangerously undercut the statute’s purpose and have a severe chilling effect on survivors’ ability to safely report abuse. This Court should not invalidate that crucial remedy, which is foundational to the integrity and purpose of the Protecting Survivors Act.

Page 17: In short, based on the pleadings here, the Baldoni Plaintiffs’ retaliatory defamation lawsuit is the prototypical suit that the California Legislature intended to short circuit by enacting AB 933. It weaponizes the DARVO technique to recast Mr. Baldoni as the victim to undermine Ms. Lively’s credibility while also attempting to leverage the powerful tool of abusive discovery to further persecute her. Granting Ms. Lively’s motion to dismiss based on AB 933 would allow the law to work as intended by providing early protection and relief for survivors who speak out about sexual harassment. Denying Ms. Lively’s motion to dismiss, on the other hand, will encourage abusers to use defamation suits to silence victims and will chill victims’ willingness to report sexual assault and harassment in future—the exact opposite of the intent of AB 933.

Page 5: The rise of retaliatory defamation lawsuits has only deepened this crisis, allowing perpetrators to weaponize the judicial system to discredit survivor accounts, deter others from coming forward, and conceal misconduct. Such lawsuits inflict ongoing harm, reinforce discredited myths about false accusations, and suppress essential public discourse, undermining both individual access to justice and the broader societal imperative of accountability.
